Given the circumstances, CU coming out of spring practice without a starting quarterback isn't so startling. But QB coach Rip Scherer says the 2012 season could open with the search still underway.

Dude stop. I already said it was my opinion.

I think Rip is just being politically correct here and trying to preserve the competition.

    Dangerous game he's playing, IMO.

It means that wood has not been particularly impressive. All signs have pointed to this anyway - bringing in a transfer qb, etc. so it should not be that much of a surprise. It sucks, but this is where we are.

They told Webb he would have a chance to compete in the fall. Also think this is why Embree closed practices. He wanted a QB competition which tells me that Wood isn't the second coming of Elway. That he expected a competition. That is a fair expectation given Wood's experience.

Why did they feel they needed to bring another QB at this juncture? Could be because Hirsch won't be back due to injury or that he knows he won't play? Or maybe, just maybe, they are still looking for their QB?

Either way, I'm sure they told Webb that he would have a chance to compete in August.

I wouldn't expect (as some have) that we will have an instant upgrade at QB in 2012. It will be a step back until we get some experience under our belt.

It means nothing. Filler from Brooks and spin from coaches.

Exactly my thoughts. Coaching staff is going to play this close to the vest since our first opponent of the season is only a short drive away. They already have an idea of who it will be. They already know who it wont be. They already know who is redshirting and they probably already know who is looking to leave. I would bet that Mr Wood will be in charge of summer drills for the offense and that right there is plenty of information for me.

Yeah, I'm hearin' coach-speak. If they designated their #1 right now, would the other qb's continue to push and work as hard?
