Maybe he'll stay if we promote him to Defensive Coordinator. He's a good Xs and Os guy, he's got the right demeanor for the booth, and he's earned his shot. Hopefully we can make this happen.
Should he really have to leave Boulder to become a head coach?
“I do desire to be a head coach — at the right place and the right time,” Cabral said. “I just feel that I have the leadership capabilities, but it’s all about the right place and right time."
That's exactly what GB says when asked if he would like to coach again.
I think Cabral missed the bus.
JMO. Don't jump all over me and say I'm a USC fan.
But you are a USC fan.
Just please not UCLA.
Yep...no big secret. Life long USC fan and 11 year CU fan. And believe me when I say I bled more for CU in two years than I ever did for USC.
I believe that. Not sure what you being a USC fan has to do with this topic, though.
Someone brought it up in another post about wearing blue...that my being a USC fan says I should have no opinion on the blue protest.
Oh. I'm not sure that specific poster understands your ties to CU.
that was me...and it was intended to be a joke...i am aware of gateway's ties to cu and to u$c...
but where in my response did i say that you shouldn't have an opinion about the blue protest? what i meant was that you have a biased opinion about wearing blue because you are a u$c fan...and the cross town rival wears the blue...
Oh...sorry...didn't get that about UCLA.
I didn't realize it was you when I read it....I know you better than some posters here so I should have known you were not serious.
Hmm. I was thinking it was another poster entirely. Sorry, ginormous-headed one.
I thought it was 87.
I havent had time to fix the RSS feed filters. Someone needs to copy and paste Longmont times articles to the front page old school way. They are too good to be missed.
FYI. It's hit or miss on the BDC basketball articles, too.
not your fault. Longmont times doesn't have an RSS feed.
Back to Cabral-- if you look at the HCs he has been under, Mac, Neu, GB, and Hawk, while all had great respect for him as a position coach, none of them saw fit to give him a shot at the DC, and it seems at least a couple of them had multiple DC's. He also interviewed for the UNC job after GB was fired and was passed over in favor of the NU recruiting coordinator.
In addition, numerous assistants under Mac and 2 under Neu went on to become HCs, and none pursued Cabral as a potential DC.
There is no denying he is a great position coach, the number of his players in the NFL speaks for itself--there are probably far more CU LBs in the league over the past 20yrs than any other position. That being said, the possibility exists that he is "at level". That seems to be the consensus among those he's worked for and with based on the lack of opportunities presented.
Going to be a sad day for this buff when cabral is done at cu.:sad1:
That's a sad article. The best part was that UCLA wasn't mentioned directly, only it's HC.:sad1:
