2011 NCAA Gold and Bronze women's steeplechase champions: Emma Coburn and Shalaya Kipp.

Congrats to both Buffs for an amazing performance and a great season. Coburn picked up where Barringer left off. Nice CU steeplechase dynasty is being built by Coach Wetmore.

Great work by our women. I think it's safe to say we've got a Steeplechase Dynasty.

Way to go ladies!! Emma is only a junior as well. She has to knock 30 seconds off her time to catch Barringer, who's time is 8th all time and the American record. That is a lofty goal, indeed.

I'll say it again - Wetmore deserves a raise.

Kipp is only a soph! Awesome! She should use her RS next year. Then we would have a huge shot at running off a long string of steep championships!! J/K. Sort of. I think she could run X/C and RS in track and actually compete five straight years.

    DBT knows distance running.

Don't want to put the cart in front of the horse here but Coburn has been making huge strides in her performances since she came to CU. The one track and field event that everyone in the US pays attention to is the olympics.

I would love to see her keep improving an have a solid showing in the Olympics, better if she could medal. She is a personable young woman with a great smile and for both her sake and CU would love to see her get some face time on network TV.

Either way I think with her work ethic she is going to have a great future in and out of track and field. It's nice to have a national champion walking around the CU athletics complex.

Very cool for both of them.

Steeplechase might be the hardest event in T&F. I have seen some nasty spills in that race over the years.

The good news is that her time in the NCAA is right at the "A" standard of 9:43 to be allowed to compete in the Olys. Will Jennifer (Barringer) Simpson be going for the steeplechase?
