Long but good read here on why VT has fallen off and their struggle to get back to national prominence. I didn't realize that they had 8 straight 10-win seasons and 11 in 13 years.
TLDR - Fuente didn't get the support he needed, facilities and resources quickly fell behind after Beamer left, and they lost their hold on recruiting eastern VA.
