I am not planning on staying in Boulder on Friday night but wanted to stay somewhat close for sat.. Any suggestions on an area to stay with shopping for gear or a movie theater? The hotels in boulder are pretty full so i was wanting to just go somewhere cheap on friday night but looking for an area with stuff to do. Any suggestions would be great.

I might stay down in Golden. Easy drive up the 93 to Boulder from there. Broomfield or Westminster would be pretty good options for you, too.

The Renaissance or the Omni in Interlocken will suit your needs very well. Both close to shopping and close to movies. Also the Westin Westminster would do the trick as well.

Denver really isn't too far of a drive in my experience.

Staying at the Marriott Residence Inn (also a Courtyard there) in Longmont Friday night - easy drive down the Diagonal to Boulder

Denver is about 30-35 minutes away. You can stay downtown or near Cherry Creek Mall and kill two birds with one stone, but have a longer drive time to Boulder.
Downtown Denver has the Pavilions theatres, and Cherry Creek Mall has theatre complex inside the mall.

Hotels near Broomfield/Interlocken will have you at shopping and theatres and about 15 minutes from Boulder. (Flatirons Shopping Center.)
    AMC Theatres - Flatiron Crossing 14 www.amcentertainment.com - (888) 262-4386

Westminster has a multiplex movie center, and nearby hotels, but shopping not so much ... at least not really close by. 88th and Sheridan maybe.
    AMC Westminster AMC Theatres - Westminster Promenade 24 www.amcentertainment.com - (888) 262-4386

All drive times are relative on game days.

Wait. You're coming to Boulder in September and your requirement is that you must be close to a movie theater? There must be more to this story.

Strangely enough, this meets all his criteria, although the shopping/movie thing is pretty limited. I haven't gone to a movie at the Longmont theater in over 10 years. However, he would be right across the street from the Oskar Blues brewpub and a Sports Authority where he could gear-up.

Look at hotwire.com & orbitz.com for Louisville. Very close to Boulder and the Flatirons mall.

Be aware though - because Boulder is full, I heard a lot of the hotels in the surrounding areas (Louisville, Superior, etc.) are doing a 2-night minimum requirement. One of the people I go to the games with has a wedding in Broomfield on the night of the Georgia game & everyone is having a hard time finding a hotel for the wedding night because of the requirement.

Perfect reason to use one of the 2 sites I listed. They will only show available for the exact date/dates you input.
