CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

One business - as you point out the NFL essentially is- is acting in its self interest. So, not socialist. Look at the NFL as 32 branches of one company. The company sets the rules that benefit the company. Some branches might not do as well as others, but they all understand their place in the grand scheme of things.

But essentially we agree in that the college game is leaderless, fragmented, and eating itself alive. The college game could learn a lot from the NFL model.

Plus, in socialism, none of the workers are among the 1% of wealthiest people in the country.

1 percenters don't make up a work force anywhere. Your point doesn't matter

Well, except for a large number of professional athletes. Including NFL players.

Some stats:

In the U.S., as of 2023, the top 1% of household net worth started at $13,666,778.

An individual would need to earn an average of $407,500 per year in order to join the top 1%, and a household would need an income of $591,550.

Let me rephrase: this argument is hilariously dumb and you caring enough to do research to prove that NFL players aren't in a socialist system because they make too much in their socialist monopoly to be socialist is even more hilarious

Just received Colorado's Agreement to join the Big 12. Colorado was the first to jump from the Pac 12 and the agreement reveals some haste to get it done. I provide three examples of sloppy drafting - one of which gave Oregon State and Washington State leverage to take control of the Pac. The full contract is attached.

AND you guys will love the fact that Utah apparently refused to sign the 99 year requirement while CU did.

RG is a lawyer? CU employs many. Im pretty sure this all only passed across his desk and he forwarded it.

Karl Dorell. There is a pattern. So sure.

It could be that he doesnt sign but rather someone higher up than him does. I had a boss who used to fight with legal all the time because their mistakes (things they missed) obligated us to things in contracts. My boss wasnt allowed to sign. He also often was removed from the legal v legal back and forth then low and behold it was signed without his knowledge. Were talking about CU after all. 😂

Im not sure about something as big as changing conferences. Probably Dr Phil and others had their hands in the back and forth.

I’m sure CU would be on the hook for some amount of money, just like UT/OU were and just like any ACC school will be, but it’s not going to stop them from leaving to be part of whatever league is formed.
When I look to the enforceability of contracts, I ask bankers and sales reps for their confident projections in my favor. Come on guys unless someone finds an out this is a real issue

I believe this was addressed at the time the realignment was happening. Iirc, there would be some costs to break the agreement but they're not egregious and it wouldn't be much of an obstacle if it was for B1G or SEC money.

There's what RG says to cover his ass (or in ignorance) and then there's what the contract says. The latter is the one that matters. I'm much too lazy to look through the contract to confirm this though.

I've seen worse.

Not in the mood to mentally masturbate this in full at this moment, but I think the best model would be 6 divisions of 8 teams. Schedule would be the 7 teams in your division plus 1 team from each of the other 5 divisions (matchups determined by order of finish in your division the previous year). So we'd keep the 12-game schedule and then get a playoff.
