Just found list of entrants for this Saturday's races at http://www.rtspt.com/events/ncaa/prenats16/entries.pdf .

I believe how it works is 7 women and 7 men in the below lists will be chosen for the main (Blue) team races, while remaining runners can run in the Open races that end the event. (Assume that, just because a runner is on the list doen't mean they're racing at all, and they can also run unattached if they're in the Open races.)

    For the Buffs-
    Women potentially racing are-
Bib # Name (Last First) Gender Class College
350 Benner Kaitlyn F JR Colorado
351 Clark Erin F SR Colorado
352 Hurta Sage F FR Colorado
353 Jones Dani F SO Colorado
354 May Lucy F JR Colorado
355 Morley Makena F SO Colorado
356 Nun Melanie F JR Colorado
357 Scholl Tabor F FR Colorado
358 Seligman Cayla F FR Colorado
359 Tuttle Tayler F SO Colorado

    Men potentially racing-
360 Dressel John M SO Colorado
361 Forsyth Ryan M SO Colorado
362 Freidman Reilly M FR Colorado
363 Gonzales Ethan M SO Colorado
364 Harris Nicholas M SR Colorado
365 Herrick Chris M SO Colorado
366 Klecker Joe M FR Colorado
367 Martin Christian M JR Colorado
368 Miller Paul M SO Colorado
369 Perrin Zach M JR Colorado
370 Peterman Adam M JR Colorado

Looks like 3 members of the men's team (Reilly Friedman, Christian Martin and Paul Miller) raced at Bradley today, and all had top 10 finishes.

Edit- looking at official results (http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/bradley.sidearmsports.com/documents/2016/10/14/men_red.pdf) , looks like the Buff men actually fielded a 5 member team at Bradley, and came in 6th in the team race.

And, looks like many women were also running, and won their team race (http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.c...s.com/documents/2016/10/14/women_red_team.pdf) , with sophomore Taylor Tuttle winning the individual title.
    Detail Buff results-

Another good source of information for the race is Flotrack's twitter (https://twitter.com/FloTrack).

Assuming it's not windy, looks like it could be a great weather day for running, as it's looking like it's only 63 degrees or so. (Probably the main thing they can't duplicate in this pre-nationals vs. the championships is the weather. It could be and has been a quagmire on this course when the championships has been here some years, with runners slipping and sliding and falling all over the place, often causing teams to have a less than anticipated overall finish.)

Buffs only in 3rd after the 1st time check, with Pac 12 mates Cal and Oregon leading. Of course, this is only 1/3 of the way through, so a LONG way to go, and I believe the Buffs are famous for running through the field as the race goes along.

Looks like a great 2nd place for Erin Clark, and 4 Buffs finish in the top 26!

Full result for the women available at

    http://www.rtspt.com/events/ncaa/prenats16/wblue.pdf

For the Buffs, it's assumed the top 4 are all very strong, and they performed as expected with top 26 performances. The question was who might provide the all-important 5th place points, and how low they could go, while also providing some insurance/ depth if something happens to the top 4 runners via either injury or a bad racing day . It looks like 2 freshmen, Sage Hurta (36th place) and Tabor Scholl (46th), both filled that roll great today! And, the Buffs would still have won even if their 7th place runner's (Melanie Nun) 76th place score would have been their 5th place, so she provided strong support also.

And, very nice job by the Buff men, as they grab a close 2nd place! (Believe they were the 3rd highest ranked team going into this race. I believe Oregon was top ranked of the men's teams in Terra Haute. Be interesting to hear what happened to them.)

And, as seems to happen quite a bit in cross country, the initial men's results were WRONG, and Oregon does end up with the solid win, with the Buffs in 3rd. Full results at http://www.rtspt.com/events/ncaa/prenats16/mblue.pdf .

    Top 3-
Final Standings Scor Scoring Order Total Avg. Spread
    1 OREGON 85 1-4-18-26-36(146) 2:01:1 24:1 1:04.
    2 ARKANSAS 110 2-12-14-29-53(77)(99) 2:01:5 24:2 0:58.
    3 COLORADO 124 15-24-27-28-30(54)(66) 2:02:2 24:2 0:12.

It should be a blast to see. (Note- per http://pac-12.com/cross-country/event/2016/10/28/pac-12-championships-0 , looks like MAYBE there will actually be a live stream this year, and we won't have to just wait for a truncated highlight show days after the races are run!)

For the women, assume today's race will make them the #1 team in all the polls. (They were "only" #2 in the Coaches Poll going into this weekend.) However, in the stronger field Wisconsin Invitational yesterday, Washington beat the current #1 and 3 teams, so they will probably move up to #2 in the rankings, and will be a HUGE challenge for the Buffs to deal with in a couple weeks. And, of course, Oregon and Stanford always have great athletes to draw from, and are ALWAYS threats on any given day.

For the men, they will have to pull off a big upset to keep their record of never having lost at Pac 12's going. I would think Oregon is of course going to be very tough as today shows, and Stanford got a very solid 2nd (behind only #1 ranked Northern Arizona) in yesterday's Wisconsin race. Also in that (deeper field) race, UCLA (6th) and WSU (8th) out-performed their rankings, so will also need to be looked at as threats.

One thing that should be noted about the Buff men today- they generally finished VERY Close together, with 4 of their top 5 finishing within 6 seconds of each other (including their perceived top runners Ben Saarel, John Dressel and Joe Klecker), so there's a possibility they were partly treating this race as a chance to work on their pack running, pacing, and scoping out the course, and didn't go all out for individual top finishes. Congrats by the way to the Buff's top finisher, sophomore Ryan FORSYTH, for his 15th place finish. I don't think going in he would have been the pick for top Buff finisher, so that was a GREAT result for him.

I think it's a significant advantage for the Buffs that they're racing in the low humidity conditions of Tucson for the Pac-12 Championships. That's a pretty major adjustment for our main rivals for the titles.

    These are young teams:
CU Men's finishers: SO, FR, SO, SR, JR, (SO), (JR)
CU Women's finishers: SR, JR, SO, SO, FR, (FR), (JR)

Only one point scorer and participant graduating after this year for both squads. Not only are these both highly ranked teams that will compete hard in the Pac 12 and NCAA Championships, but they should be even better next year.

    Go Buffs!
