The Buffs, in their first year since 2005 at the UCA and UDA championships, finished higher than any other Big 12 team and finished third behind perennial powers Minnesota and Memphis, and ahead of such school as Oklahoma, Kentucky, Iowa and Ohio State, among others.

"This is huge exposure not only for our program, but for the University," Harris said. "People will be watching this on ESPN and realize that it's Colorado and they're going to want to come here to compete. There will be incredibly talented women who want to be a part of the CU Express."

Exact dates are not set yet, but Harris expects the competition to be aired on ESPN late February or early March.

    Great job, ladies!

Love to see another CU squad doing well.

Just out of curiosity, does this kind of thing add to our Sears Cup standings?

I'm almost positive that it doesn't since the governing body isn't the NCAA.

Yeah, but these are all members of the athletic department, just the same. Chip is part of the AD. The dance team performs at athletic events. It's all interconnected. In fact, if there's a contest for pep bands and marching bands, I think THAT should count towards Sears Cup standings, too.

I found the Learfield Sports web site. That's the group that manages the Director's Cup.

Here are the Fall sports that count toward the standings: Women's Cross Country, Men's Cross Country, Women's Field Hockey, Football, Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, Men's Water Polo

Here are the Winter sports that count toward the standings: Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball, Women's Bowling, Fencing, Women's Gymnastics, Men's Gymnastics, Women's Ice Hockey, Men's Ice Hockey, Rifle, Skiing, Women's Swimming, Men's Swimming, Women's Track & Field, Men's Track & Field, Men's Wrestling

Here are the Spring sports that count toward the standings: Men's Baseball, Women's Golf, Men's Golf, Women's Lacrosse, Men's Lacrosse, Women's Rowing, Women's Softball, Women's Tennis, Men's Tennis, Women's Track & Field, Men's Track & Field, Men's Volleyball, Women's Water Polo

After the Fall standings were finalized, CU was in 43rd place. All of our points came from Women's and Men's Cross Country.

I think this is a good list to keep in mind when we're talking about what sports CU should add. I definitely believe we should focus on sports we could quickly be good at (and don't require new facilities).

Track & Field is on there twice. Once for Winter and once for Spring. Is one for indoor and one for outdoor?

I would assume so. The winter indoor season just got started. On that note, bringing Balch Fieldhouse into the 21st century is a a very important facility upgrade for CU, imo.

The team did their routine for this competition at the BB game last Saturday ..... I really liked it and am glad to see that the judges liked it too.

What I hope they do is tear Balch down completely and put a second level on the West side of the stadium, with a new Balch Fieldhouse, complete with olympic sized swimming pool, diving well, and water polo pool, indoor track, indoor football practice facility, academic facilities, wrestling facilities, lockerrooms, & meeting rooms in it's place. Yes, this would cost a ton of money, but would be hella-cool. I'm not holding my breath.
