The guy will find work someplace else. Even complete douchebags like Callahan find work someplace else. Let him go coach intramurals somewhere. He's good at that.

Only tears of joy will be rolling down my face. Very nice man with all of the best intentions in the world. Just not a headcoach!

By the way, love the blue font! Very fitting!

I know several fine realtors in town that would help him get his house sold. I'm more than willing to provide a list of reputable folks who specialize in relocations.

With DBT's donated Pleather Furniture, he can sell it furnished, too!

The time for upsetness is over. We get to unwrap a new coach for Christmas. Hawk is a millionaire, and he can take Cody and Misty to Macchu Picchu, or Lake Titicaca, or wherever and put this **** behind them. It's obvious the job was wearing on him, and he's better off this way. Let's hope this ushers in the new Golden Age of Buffdom.

(cue the unicorns and rainbows and ****)

I will shed a tear for him, sort of. He is a good man. He came to CU to make the program great. I have never seen him make the program about him (unlike Slick and GB) he's always focused on the program (like Mac). He did many good things for the program and the university (cleaning up the culture, improving recruiting, academic performance). Unfortunately, he's just not that good of a football coach.

I hate to see good people fail and solipsistic assholes succeed (like Slick, Jaba - until now, and others) so this deal with Hawk feels really unjust. But, it is what it is. Life is not fair. It's time for him, and us, to learn what we can from this debacle and move on.

one thing i'll take from these past four years is to be a lot more objective about where we're at and where we can go. i was thinking national championship in 2010.:cry:

No. Reality check. Cody will be a senior next year. He has a commitment for a scholarship. He has done what was asked of him, expect him to be on the team and to graduate from CU.

Awkward as heck, but as far as character-building, I'm sure Cody has learned a lot from the rock-and-hard-place he's been living in the last few years.

I was thinking more along the lines of a family vacation. Yes, Cody will still be on scholarship and will have a University of Colorado diploma to show for his struggles here. Yet another reason for the upsetness to subside.

The most difficult thing for me was being emotionally invested in both CU football and Coach Hawkins. That position was untenable, and I let go about halftime of the CSU game. Other fans held on longer, and it was obviously causing them internal conflicts, as well as making them feel apartness and conflict with their fellow Buffs. Glad for them also that this is nearly over.

Hopefully, with a coaching change we can all go back to being just Buff fans. We can go back to throwing our rhetorical piss bombs and nail-filled marshmallows at corn****ers instead of each other.

    I won't shed a tear.

Though many people refer to Squawk as "such a nice guy..." I disagree.

I think he's a weasel. A slimy, lying, OVER-arrogant, scumbucket. He is an act.

And I think, if given the chance to speak after he gets axed, his true colors will shine, shine, shine... Wait and see.

You're wrong about this. Great dude. Glad he's being fired, though:thumbsup:

And his post-firing speech will be all class, man.

This is the right time to move to a new coach. I have no doubt about that.

But here's how I'll probably end up looking at Hawkins:

A very honorable, upstanding man who cared deeply about the program and gave his all to do a good job for us. He successfully upgraded the talent in the program, improved our depth, balanced out our classes better, and brought in some high quality young men to our program who are easy to cheer for.

But much like in the NFL when the coach who had to deal with a rookie quarterback during the learning years often gets fired and his replacement has all the success, Hawkins was charged with re-inventing a culture and rebuilding a program and it will be the next guy that enjoys the fruits of that labor. And it needs to be the next guy, because despite all the things I like about Dan Hawkins, it's pretty clear that winning at a top tier BCS program is simply above his level.

Do not agree with the perception that Hawkins is a great recruiter. He had one good class and none of the players that were responsible for making it a highly rated class have contributed yet. Other than that, recruiting has been mediocre at absolute best.

So no, Dan Hawkins is not a "great" or even "good" recruiter. He is average.

Friday is the right day to make the move, when you have 15 days between games to let the walls fall down, and then let the dust settle. Doing it today, with a short week could be a mess.

But at the same time, perhaps you give him until Saturday following Nebraska. Who knows.

Just want him gone. Any one of the names thrown around here as his replacement should be an improvement from the state of affairs the Buffs are currently in.

Rep for expanding my vocabulary. I agree, Hawkins is well-intentioned, unlike many coaching cockalorums.

And I just decided to play around on Thesaurus.com and found out that "buff" is a synonym for "authority" or "expert".

Hawkins seems like a good guy in a situation that has not worked out at all.
