    From the article:

That means the new track will be faster, and it will have a lot less potential for causing injuries because there will be less torsion on the legs of those who run there. The surface (Mondo) will be the fastest in the world.

"Minus the elevation, it would be the best indoor facility in the country," Wetmore said. "We can't do anything about the fact that it's at a mile high of elevation, but it'll be very fast for the 200, the 400, the 4x4, the 800."

CU track coaches are scheduled to move their offices from Balch into the new facility in August, and it's likely the track will be finished in time for CU's annual indoor meet (the Potts Indoor Invitational) in January.

While your point is valid - Potts Field is antiquated to say the least - I wonder if it's all that relevant. By that, I wonder how often the track team will even use Potts after the new facility is open. Do we host outdoor meets there?

Mods, please move this to the "where I lost my virginity thread." On the pole vault mats, to be specific.

No. The indoor track is 300M. The outdoor oval is 400M with a steeple water feature and various amenities for throwers.

No 10K runner wants to use one of Boulder's 300 days of sunshine indoors.

Yes, CU hosts an outdoor meet. http://cu-potts-outdoor-invitationa...file.php?event_id=5709&do=news&news_id=325580

Indoor track facilities are nice and the upgrades are much needed, but outdoor track is the more important of the two.

I know they replaced the surface at Potts about ten years ago. They also added throwing cages and tore down those old wooden bleachers. I wonder what it would take to do a legit upgrade out there.

Aren't Potts and Prentup supposed to be re-located away from the East Campus, with that becoming a solely academic campus once the expansion is complete?

I wonder if they'll end up on the South Campus.
