Big 10 looks like they are accelerating their plans. June still looks like the period when we'll know anything definitive. I'm assuming this is at least partially driven by the Big 12's notification window, though I think if a Big 12 school is in the mix its Nebraska rather then Mizzou. I think Nebraska as a historic national power is a likelier target than a lot of people think, especially if only one Big 12 school is taken. If Nebraska leaves I would be shocked if we weren't on the phone to the Pac 10 shortly thereafter. It would be interesting for the Big 12 though because it would break the TX, TAMU, OK, NU super majority voting bloc that keeps the current revenue sharing deal in place unless TX could bully TT into voting their way. I doubt anybody we could add would favor the current revenue sharing agreement.

My mom and dad went to SMU. My dad was on the same HS team with Doak Walker and Bobby Lane. I grew up just a huge Southwest Conference fan. I knew that Jerry Levias was he first black in the SWC. I heard about SMU vs Nortre Dame and Leon Hart. I think the tendency is to hang on to your past. But that isn't reality. The world, politically, sociolgically, etc is changing. We have to adapt to it. Yeah, my heart is tied to the Southwest Conference, Big 8, Big 12. One has to do what is best for one at the time. So, CU needs to evaluate what is best for them. They need to do a value analysis and make a decision. However, one factor is the historical affiliation of fans, their teams, and their conferences. I'd bet Sackman's dad would prefer to keep the Big XII toghether. Of course, Sackman will tell me I'm wrong.

I would love to see the Big12 stay together. I would miss playing the fuskers every year. I just wish the people running the conference would remove their heads from their asses and do something to save this conference. I just don't think that will happen. :(

Same here, I want the conference to stay together. Although I'm not sure how much they could to save it if the Big 12 or Pac-10 comes calling.

**** the rest of the big XII. CU needs to do what's best for CU, and getting shafted by this ****stain conference isn't it.

Is there a buy out clause on the CSU game?

Yep...will cost a fortune to buy out the TV rights to the game...currently, held by some dude named Garth from BF (East Aurora) Illinois....

I'm thinking bohn didn't want a backlash from the denver media types. You Know, the ones who say this game is so important for college football in the state and then after the game is over they all go back to the broncos and don't give college football another sniff.

A lot of the new speculation going around on a lot of boards seems to be that the Big 10 may be looking to hit the Big 12 North harder then the Big East, i.e. add ND, Nebraska, KU, Missouri and Rutgers. I have no trouble believing our old Big 8 partners would have any trouble kicking us to the curb. If this happens and we don't move to the Pac 10 I think we're likely screwed. I dunno how I feel about this, if it happens then IMO it increases the likelihood of the whole Cali/TX Western Alliance scenario and that TT would get dragged along with TX and TAMU. I have very little interest in getting stuck in the TX division of the PAC 16 rather then with the Cali schools.

Cowherd is reporting the latest talk is that the Big 10 wants UConn. If they go to 14, the will likely take Rutgers and Pitt.

He also seems to think Utah and CU to the Pac 10 is a foregone conclusion.

I think Cowherd is a clown 99.9% of the time, but I hope he's right in this case.

UConn seems a bit of a surprise to me given the options out there (Pitt, ND, etc.), but I wonder if the proximity to ESPN headquarters comes into play at all? Easy to get TV crews and anchors to watch Big 10 games if it's in their backyard.

Well, all I know is that rumors like this typically have a short shelf life -- unless there's something to them. It's pretty evident at this point the Big Ten is looking to drop a nuke on the college landscape and, if they go to 14-16, then the whole thing is dropped on its head and a huge string of dominoes will be the result. I think the Pac-10, in their life-partner relationship, would announce CU and UU about 10 minutes after all that, so I imagine things going pretty fast when the time comes.

I'm resigned to the fact we're heading west. There are some pluses to it all, but I just hate losing all the rivalries and history with the old Big Eight schools. But I guess things change.

My uninformed opinion is that Pitt or Mizzou makes much more sense just by number of television sets. Living in Boston, UConn did not seem like a big draw in New England. Again, I could be totally wrong - just my impression. The Big Ten has been a bit down in hoops, so maybe they are more interested in adding a basketball powerhouse. But I believe that in UConn's case, the coach is bigger than the program and I expect UConn to fall from an elite program once Calhoun retires. Calhoun turns 68 in May.

If you stick around on this board in the future when we have a new coach, you're going to feel like a jackass.

i hope that the p10 moves quickly. i have a hard time visualizing a p10 expansion that doesn't include CU (unless maybe they grab byu/utah or atm/texas or all 4 and leave us out), but i don't want there to be any scenario where it might happen at all. when the dominoes start to fall, we have to move quickly.

if texas and atm go to the sec, and nu and mizzery (or maybe ku instead of nu) go to the b10, then we are going to really vulnerable if we don't land in the p10. i think the case for CU to the p10 is so strong that we are unlikely to get screwed, but one never knows.

i definitely don't want to be left as a part of some torn up midwest conference. you might as well write our epitaph for the death of our participation in major college sports at that point.

why would i feel like a jackass? I'm open about my feelings about Hawk and how he needs to go! What's being a jackass about that? And I do plan on sticking around for the long haul....FYI!

I don't think any of the college teams are that big of a draw in the New England region.

I'd rather we pull the trigger before the dominoes start to fall. If we're in a position where we could conceivably end up in the MWC or something, we have a lot less room to bargain. I want to start the dissolution of the Big 12.

Not only is Cowherd an assclown 99.9999999999999999999999% of the time, you also have to remember that everybody at ESPiN has a tendency to believe that the college sports world revolves around UConn. Probably because their studios are located in Bristol, CT.

I would guess that the odds of the Big Televen having interest in UConn are much lower than Cowturd and the gang would like to believe...

I was just commenting on your username. It won't be relevant in (hopefully) less than a year, whether it be because he got fired (so he's gone) or he wins 10 games (so you might not want him to go). Wasn't saying you are a jackass for wanting him gone. Just the username.

UConn may be a more attractive draw in New England if they have Ohio St, Penn St, and Michigan coming to town instead of Syracuse or South Florida. And I could be wrong, but I see hoops being about as important as school colors for deciding conference realignment.
