Reporter to Hawkins:
What did you think of the students' "blue out" protest?
Incorrect answer: True fans wear black and gold.
Correct answer (supplied free of charge):
There's nobody more disappointed with the Buff's season so far than the players and the coaches, and I respect the fans' demand to see improvement in CU football. You expect the best. You want your buffs to win, and win big. We all want that too, and we spend time every day working on the things we need to to get better. Every player on the field and on the sidelines wants to win. Every coach is asking himself "what can I do to improve? What do we need to change?" Every player is saying "Am I giving enough? What can I do better?" And we will be better, maybe not as quickly as everybody wants to see, but we will.
If fans want to put on sky blue and come cheer us on, I understand where they are coming from. I would rather have them at the game, supporting our players and CU football, than not coming at all. We hear you loud and clear. It's painful, but we got the message. I hope the day is right around the corner where we can have the stadium section filled again with shoulder-to-shoulder gold. Filled with Buffalo pride. We are working to deserve the support of all of our fans. When we earn that, it will be a great day for CU football.
