I wonder how CU's OOC scheduling will be affected by the move to the Pac12. They have had the luxury of scheduling schools east and west in the past.

Scheduling a bunch of MWC and WAC schools won't draw at home and it puts all their eggs into recruiting west of CO. Not many east coast BCS teams are interested in a home and home.

You would think they would try to play at least 1 game a year in Texas but I can't imagine too many of the leftovers in the Big12 will schedule them for while.

Might be a mute point though because they already have the OOC schedule set for a few years out and I don't see the Big 12-2 lasting very long. Inevitable (in my eyes) future conference realignment will have a huge affect on it as well.

MS in Civil Eng '95 and proud 2 time winner of the Tuesday night tricycle races at the Dark Horse - how many of your TA's did that?

My first post was pretty snarky after the Toledo loss last year. Don't post enough to get rid of the negative reps.

I'm guessing smaller schools for a few years after joining the Pac-12 and then slowly ramping it up where we are back in Texas. Maybe occasionally Nebraska and the random power house. Hopefully we are able to get home and homes though.

I'm really tempted to un-fix it, but I'm in a pretty good mood so I'll resist.

Your lack of ability to spell is explained by your degree. As a fellow CE, you are forgiven. The criticism above has been rendered mute.

They did when I first went off to college. But the second time around, they actually had calculators. I had an HP15c.

With 9 conference games, and one OOC game with CSU tied in permanently, we'll have fewer slots to fill in the OOC every year. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

I think what you do is try to get one home/home with an East Coast BCS school every year. Georgia, Virginia, Rutgers, Pitt, UNC, whatever. You then fill in the other game with a D-II scrub team that will give you a home game every year. There are plenty of those kinds of teams all over the place. UTEP, Montana State (we owe them, big time), Weber, Northern Arizona, NMSU, Sam Houston State, Northern Colorado, etc. That helps keep the number of true home games at six per year in years when we only have four conference home games. Just make sure that in those years, the home/home with the East coast team is a home game.

I'd love a game with NMSU. My good friend played for them and it would be great to go to the game with him.

I say we take a long, hard look at playing Hawaii every season. It would be good for recruiting, it would be a cool mini-rivalry, and it would allow for us to get a 13th game in the years we went there. They'll be very open to it, too, if they're forced to go independent.

If they go independent I say jump all over that. Colorado actually has a lot of Hawaiians living here. I think you are on to something here nik

a set of home-homes with Syracuse, BC, UCONN or Rutgers might energize CU's fairly significant NY/NJ/New England alum base. assuming we don't go "Toledo" in those games.

Why? We are already playing their big brother. What's to be gained by playing BYU? It doesn't give us any additional exposure to recruits. We don't have a large alumni base in Utah, and even if we did, it would be covered by the conference games with Utah. I see nothing to gain by scheduling BYU.

You recall correctly. That was a fireworks game and one of the coolest experiences of my life. The fireworks were at halftime before the band went on so we got to go down to the field to watch the fireworks because we would have had to fumble down while the lights were warming up. That was pretty freakin' cool.

I love the idea of playing more Big Ten teams not named Nebraska. Is the home and home with Minnesota still on?

I think it'd be great for CU to have a game in TX against one of the former Big 12 South TX teams on an annual basis... gives the school a presence in a fertile recruiting ground... the other... Hawaii would be nice, but if not that a game in Florida would also be beneficial to recruiting and presence in another state.
