BOULDER - Colorado's soccer team has been absolutely dominant as of late in season-opening matches and that continued last night. Since the inception of the program, the Buffaloes have posted an 11-5-5 mark in openers after Friday's 2-0 win at Air Force.

The Buffs hope that momentum carries over into Sunday's home opener against Colorado State, where the Buffs take a shutout streak of 727 minutes and 57 seconds in home openers and are 15-4-1 all-time. That will not be an easy task, however, facing rival Colorado State, which earned a 2-0 road win as well last night at the University of Denver. The Rams and Buffs played to a 1-1 draw last year in Fort Collins to open the season.

A 2-0 start to the season would be big--CU has only started a season 2-0 five times in its 20-year history, and the past two times it achieved that, the Buffs went on to make the NCAA Tournament--both of those under current head coach Danny Sanchez.

Sanchez was pleased with his team's effort on Friday, but has some little things to work on for Sunday.

The first 350 fans wearing CU gear on Sunday will receive a commemorative 20th Anniversary pint glass as 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of CU soccer, which started in 1996. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Prentup Field.

1-1 at the half.

Buffs dominating overall. In addition to the goal, one shot off the post and probably 6-8 more that were within a few feet around the various goal posts,. including at least 4 where there was no Ram defender between the shooter and the goalie.

Re the atmosphere, it's great! ( Definitely a big plus to the Colorado Cup.)

Can't remember a bigger crowd, and assume some have left given the decent heat today.

Great hustle steal by Zuniga who passes to Evans who receives the ball with her back to the goal in the middle of the box maybe 12-15. She is able to turn with the ball to get a shot past her defender and the Ram goalie.

2-1 Buffs

Great crowd today. Lots of fun for the fam. Ladderball, cornhole & soccer set up behind the bleachers. Great job with vendors -- we've got beer & wine this year. Had a great time & will make it to more games this year.

The 2nd CU goal was beautiful. Very skilled team that has added a lot of height. Will be better to compete with those tall teams in the conference like UCLA.

Buffs are 2-0.

Next up are a couple Big 8 rivals: at KU on Friday, at Mizzou on Sunday.

Then we have our next home game vs Michigan State on Thursday, 9/1 at 4:30pm. Should be a fun one.
