Over the next 2 weeks CU Men's basketball (17-9 overall, 8-7 in the Pac 12) ends the home portion of their regular season for the 2023/24 season. This week has only one game scheduled - a chance for redemption this Saturday night against their designated "rival" Utah Utes (16-10, 7-8), who eeked one out (68-73) in Salt Lake City over the Buffs earlier this month. Then, the Bay Area schools come to town for their only matchups with CU this regular season. 1st up is the Cal Bears (11-15, 7-8) next Wednesday (2/28) evening, followed up with a Sunday, March 2nd contest against the Stanford Cardinal (12-13, 7-8).

With all 3 upcoming opponents one game behind CU's 8-7 record at 7-8 in conference play (as I type this), these next 2 weeks figure to go a long way to determine seeding for the Pac 12 tourney. (After these 3 games, the regular season ends with the Buffs heading north and facing the Oregon schools.)

The Utah and Cal games are scheduled for the Pac 12 Networks, while the Stanford matchup will be shown on FS1. (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this post.)

Note- In the NET rankings as I type this (for games through 2/18/24), the Buffs are at #42, while Utah is #50, Cal #120 and Stanford #103.

Go Buffs!!!

(Preview(s) not available as I type this.)

As of today:

CU #41 NET
Utah #46
Stanford #109
Cal #117

Pac-12 Standings have CU in 5th, 1 game behind UCLA for the tournament bye and they own the tiebreaker. We're 2 back of 3rd place Oregon, which we have the tiebreaker against & a game left at their place. We're 3 back of UA and 3.5 back of WSU, so they're likely out of reach with 5 to play and no head-to-heads left.

Full disclosure Da Lama is happy healthy and very optimistic about tonight. That said, Cody looks like he has one foot out the door already so far. 😞

This team is incredibly physically fragile and seems to be poorly conditioned. Lots of minor ankle and knee injuries.

So, we’ve got trash Tristan tonight. Good to know early so the rest of the team can pick up the slack.
