Sounds like A&M is fighting very hard to go to the SEC and isn't caving in to UT's demands. I hope the Ags win out in this situation because this could end up being a very good thing for college football.

If A&M wins this fight, they could take OU and OSU to the SEC. BU will never go to the Pac and that means the Pac will have two Texas schools to choose...only a moron would choose TT over UT when it comes to the Pac-10. I'm not against UT being the 12th team but they won't have much (if any) leverage against any Pac-11 school.

UT is threatening to end the UT-A&M series...what is Dodds smoking? The TV execs will be in Dodds' ear until it pops if that happens.

If UT did end up coming with us, alone as the only Texas team would be the best way for the Pac11. I still think they are waaay to far away and the cultural differences are too much though. Hopefully USC and UT can set up a long term OOC series instead.

I'm very happy if Texas chooses the Pac. But the Pac-16 proposal was the least interesting of all the ones floated.

I really like a Pac 12 with UT as the 12th member. CU would get paired with them and we would absolutely kill it when recruiting in Texas.

I also really like a Pac 14 with UT, Utah and Oklahoma. If we got that, we'd have 7 sets of paired rivals. With the "zipper" configuration (i.e., USC and UCLA in opposite divisions), this would work better than anything. CU's schedule would be 6 games against its division, 1 game against our cross-division rival (Utah), and either 2 or 3 more games against the other division. A 9 game conference slate is plenty, but it only give you some conference opponents every third year while 10 games gives every other year and a guarantee of 5 conference home games.

Ehh, stay at 11, play everyone once, CSU and one more OOC game works best for me. Once this CSU series is over we should alternate between CSU and AFA for that mile high showdown.

aggy isn't a fit in the Pac 10. They should go to the SEC if they have the chance.

That's what all their boards are saying. They want the SEC and don't see how the Pac is a geographic or cultural fit for them. They do say that if it's them and 4 other teams from the south midwest making a Pac division with CU, Arizona and Arizona State that it wouldn't be the end of the world (if politics forced that path). But they want the SEC.

Okay, so for the sake of argument, let's say the aggies head to the $EC, and the PAC extends an invite to the gheyhawks along with 4 b12 south teams. With CU already out the door and the nubbies not far behind, that's 8 conference teams gone. Conference dissolved, no $$ penalties....

Would be a nice ending to this story.

While I know a lot of people would like to get away from Texas, wouldn't them being the 12th team to the pac 10 give the Pac (12) a much better TV deal?

I wouldn't mind a 12 Pac with TU, I just don't want to be in the Big XII South.

Yep. If it is just UT, then that is awesome... but if they drag along their entourage, then it is more sucky

My ideal finished product would be 12-PAC with TU, Utah, or KU. That's it.

Pac-12 with UT would be good. Don't want or need the rest of the tejanos.

Blech. I'll live with UT by themselves, as it would be far better than having them come with their lackeys. I still would prefer to have Utah be the 12th, or if that doesn't work, Kansas. The Pac could use some basketball mojo, too.

I should add that I realize the money would be much, much better with UT in the conference. My issue is that with UT in the conference, they'll change the entire dynamic of the Pac. Their MO is to out-spend everybody. Pac teams don't generally operate that way. UT won't have too much influence, as they'll be an out-lier in the conference. But they'll continue to spend gobs of money and will end up dominating anyway. I'm much rather see UT try to keep the B12 together.

I'm not sure I agree with the statement that Pac10 teams don't operate in the out-spend mode. USC spends a lot of money and Oregon with Nike's support has gone nuts recently. Washington has never backed down from anyone financially.

I was talking to somebody here last night who pointed out that, culturally, Austin is the best fit to the other Pac10 schools. Much better than SLC or Lawrence. I'm happy with Texas being the 12th team. I don't think they'd do it, however.

USC, UO, UW - they haven't seen anything yet in terms of spending. I know they throw a lot of jack around, but UT brings it to an entirely different level.

Havent seen this reported many places but apparently ex-sooner QB Josh Heuple is running his mouth that OU is going to the SEC based on his sources within the staff and admin.

If it's info derived from a public function he was at last night, it's bogus. The boomer Rivals dood dispelled that one on the radio this a.m.
