All I know is that Hansen can throw it, and that QB draw on 3rd and 19 made me want to hit a small child.
this....
i will add my 2 cents here.
if hansen is going to be the future, lets do it. what i mean by that is....
if its 3rd and 19, let the kid toss it down field. it seems to me that a draw play, this season, in the situation the Buffs are in, on that play, is playing not to lose. not playing to win.
now dont get me wrong. im not saying the Buffs were going to win this game with some different play calling or a different play call in that situation. what i am getting at is that you have a team with 50 plus freshmen (or RSFrosh) on the roster. you are stupid ugly young on the O side of the ball. let the kids play.
give them the oppertunity to fail or succeed. let them have the options. let them learn from thier mistakes. it may cost a bowl game this year. it may not. no matter what, a bowl game is not a given this year no matter the approach. i think we all can recognize that fact.
i understand that you cant toss the playbook at TH and expect him to run it all. thats dumb. however, what i think one should do, given the situation the Buffs are in this season is basically play a form of "street ball." dont play conservative. so what if its 3rd and 23? toss it down field. let TH learn. give him the freedom to make mistakes. if it costs CU a ball game, thats the way it is. if it costs the Buffs a bowl game? ouch! i dont know....
is that experience better than another 20 some practices? i dunno.
i just think that im kind of at the point, for this season, given the youth of the team, the acadamic/injury hits they have taken, and a new frosh QB, one should kind of throw caution to the wind and give the kids an oppertunity to see what they can do. if it fails miserably, they learn. that bodes well for the future. if it works, it opens up new oppertunities.
now, dont be a smart ass and claim that im saying the Buffs sould come out and run a reverse, followed by a half back pass, followed by a triple lindy or something stupid.
what im saying is that 3rd and umteen the poster i quoted was talking about should not have been a draw. the coaches should have allowed TH a chance to grow. a draw is a cop out in that situation. you have to give the kids an oppertunity to succeed of fail. they will learn and get better from both experiences. the draw does nothing on either front other than to say "we give up".
just some thoughts. where am i wrong?
