I've looked and looked but have not seen much outside of a few old fan-sites that are relatively bare compared to AllBuffs. Feel free to forward any one's you all have found that are interesting.

    Thanks!

Also looking for good free sites. I had Rivals over the past two years but just isn't worth the money. More better content, takes, and info on freesites like this.

As a Pac-10 fan I wish I give some great suggestions. Unfortunately I really can't. I infrequently visit other teams boards.

In my experience, there is no other fan board anywhere as good as Allbuffs:thumbsup: I don't think you'll find the "feel" of this board anywhere else in the Pac.

I agree with superdeluxe that www.dawgman.com (UW Scout site) is far and away the best fan board for UW. The other UW sites completely suck in comparison. Having said that, the free boards there can be pretty lame at times. I think Dawgman is great specifically for their Insider articles and paid message boards, but most opposing fans won't want to pay the $10 monthly for that. It's often name calling on the free boards, usually by Yuck fans that still can't get past their little adopted brother or wannabe syndrome...

USC has www.wearesc.com in addition to scout which is pretty good.

I otherwise will look at scout.com free boards for the other teams.

Beyond that I can't really offer up good suggestions.

Scout has a free board for Stanford, but I'll warn, you: not all the citizens are kind and welcoming.
I asked a question about three years ago -- not even a tiny bit critical of Stanford, just a "can you explain" something question and I was ripped to shreds.
There was a nerve I touched -- apparently -- that I didn't even know existed, but they thought I had come to gloat and troll. I was blindsided.

It has free threads of interest at the moment if you want to check it out.

Wildwestsports.com is still active. I use to spend a lot of time on there (over 10 years ago) but it have not posted or looked their in years. Basically run by a USC fan but other fans flame their often.

The free boards on the Scout network seem to be the best. Lots of activity. Unfortunately, CU's Scout board gets less traffic than even AZ's site.

    Free scout board?
I just checked this a.m. and the PAID scout board hasn't had -- In the middle of all the realignment news -- anything to say on that board. On June 11th they had three new threads started (none started by the publisher, Kyle Ringo) with a whopping 10 replies. Ralphie's Den/Buffalo Sport News

But the non-Insider board has had a lot of traffic. And there's been a ton on the sites for other teams. Do you have to be a member to participate in those non-Insider boards?

You mean the free Scout board for CU? No, you can be a member of any Scout board and post there, because there are posters from other sites all the time popping in (and mostly inquiring why CU's board is so dead.) You don't have to be premium anywhere (I'm pretty sure) to post here: CU Sports Board on Scout.

Quite a few of the current threads on the free board were started by NON-CU fans - judging by their monikers:
Roaring Fork Devil, AZthreadkiller, Desert Coug, dpmMcDawg, A1 Duckfan...
We have been welcomed to the PAC 10 by the rest of the clique. Almost everyone except USC, that is.

USC has welcomed us several times, actually. I've been hanging out there. Everyone's been really cool to CU, suggesting why their program should have a rivalry with us and how much they're looking forward to visiting Boulder. And then they start their in-fighting. Seems like everyone runs smack at everyone (especially at USC), so there's some level of intensity for every matchup. And they all have love for their conference and are quick to defend it from anyone who tries to run smack about the PAC or any of its members. I'm liking the feel of the PAC a lot.

I mean they haven't said a lot on the scout board. But I don't hang out there and can't remember if/when was the last time I would have posted (I think during fall 2008 recruitment?) ... just haven't seen much USC presence on that board. But I'm sure they consider CU and Boulder a much better fit an opponent to some of the options bandied about.

That's always been my experience with PAC fans too. Having grown up in Big10 country, it's a very similar feeling back there -- probably why the two conferences have always kept a close relationship. I always thought conference pride was one thing missing from the Big12. Maybe it's just me, but I never felt any great loyalty to other Big12 teams when they were playing out of conference, even though it would generally help CU for them to do well.

I chalk that up to the Big 12 being a fused league. I think Big Eight schools had pride in the Big Eight (I know part of me wishes it was still around) and I KNOW SWC schools had pride in the SWC, but once the Big Eight brought in the four Texas schools and the Big Eight "ceased to exist" (I still consider it an expansion in my mind; I don't care how they classified it), I think all of the schools kind of looked at the new surroundings and felt like it was forced -- which it was, because both leagues were in big trouble if the merger didn't happen.

The reasons the SEC, Big 10 and Pac-10 feel such community and pride in their conferences is because they've been around, in some form, anywhere from 70-100 years. The Big Eight (originally the MVC/MVIAA) was first formed in 1907. While not all Big Eight schools were there at the start, the fact is we lost a lot of community/togetherness when the Big 12 was formed and the Oklahoma schools were peeled off from the rest.

There was a pretty funny thread on Ralphie Report with people from several other Pac-10 sites on SB Nation dropping by to "welcome" CU to the Pac-10. They even included a rundown of the various SB nation Pac-10 sites. I did check out the ASU site they listed. It was just as dead as they said it was... :sad1:
