Was that the worse call or what?. A slow developing off tackle play on a 4th and 1 1/2 with our slowest running back. I mean a quick toss to Speedy or Lockridge to the outside would have been a better chance of converting than that piece of trash play..

Saying that, I thought it was a bad call by Hawk to even go for it since it was still 20-10 and our defense was playing great and we could have pinned them down inside the 20 with still 4 minutes and change to play in the 3rd and only down two scores.. We weren't even at the 50 yard line.. I mean does this guy know anything about field position? DUMB.

It totally changed the field position of the game and I thought killed any chance we had to coming back in the game..

Agreed...that play and the Scotty fumble killed any chance that we had.....bottom line, we did not deserve to win.

It seemed like every move was an awful move for the offense. I think we need to all just take a night and talk about it tomorrow, no need to discuss it. Buffs got outcoached simple as that. I put game on Hawkins as well, but I agree with you Jimmy that play stood out to me a lot.

Didn't mind the call to go for it, but run the ball right at them. YOU ONLY NEED A YARD.

That was a dumb call. Sitting with my dad who has over 50 years of fandom experience under his belt and he's going; "dont do it" "You should punt in this spot" "Punt" "dumb"

Hey, that was a big time hit and he came back in the game later on. I thought he was done for sure. Those type of things happen in a game and I can understand that type of fumble. All the other crap tonight from the coaches though, that is unexcusable!

Watching the game from the stands, I couldn't see the McKnight fumble play well enough to know what happened. From where I was sitting (and maybe from being a homer), it seemed like there was no way he established possession. Actually, I thought they were going to call a personal foul for a hit like that on a defenseless player since I saw that call so many times on Saturday. For those of you that got to see it at home with replays, was it a fumble and did the d-back headhunt?

No, we did not deserve to win. After that first half we really didn't deserve to finish within 6 points.

But, when it comes to "the Scotty fumble", whatever momentum CU was building coming out of the locker room died when the officials chose to ignore a blatant helmet-to-helmet personal foul, but still use replay to call the fumble resulting from the illegal hit and give the ball to CSU. What should really have been first and goal for CU with a chance to get within 3 turned into a turnover for CSU. Not saying anybody but CU was to blame for the loss, but that sequence was huge in this game and imo this officiating crew completely screwed the pooch there...

    yes and yes...

    It definitely WAS a fumble.

    It definitely WAS a "headhunt".

I just don't understand how they can call it a fumble. Seemed like they blew the play dead.

It was a fumble and it was 50-50 if it was a headhunt.. McKnight slanted his head lower which made it be a helmet to helmet hit.. I can't say the CSU guy was clearly going after the guy's head. Its football, I didn't have a problem with the call or noncall..

It's not a question of where the player gets hit -- the question is, did the defensive player lead with his head against an offensive player that was defenseless.

Yep. It was 100% head hunting. The CSU kid lead with his helmet. But that is football. Some you get some you don't.

Yeah, but how the hell are you going to tackle? of course you are going to lead somewhat with the head.. I'm not a big fan of that call unless its a total cheap shot.

Even with that fumble, I still think we had a "chance' to get back in the game.. We did force a punt after that play..
