Three years after making the move to the Pac-12, Colorado got a C on SI's realignment report card.

Ummm WTF? Let's see...moving to a conference that fits our alumni distribution, moving to a conference that better fits our recruiting grounds, moving to a conference that better fits out academic and culture, and moving to a conference with more money gets a 'C'? Uh huh...

Totally football driven. The simple fact of the matter is that we have four conference championships (3X cross country, 1x mens basketball) in the two years since we made the move. We're making more money and aren't allowing our destiny to be dictated by the likes of Deloss Dodds. Had the football team done better the last two years, the grade would have been higher. It's hard for some folks to see past the football team's horrid results. To a degree, I can understand that. Nobody outside of Boulder cares about our cross country team.

The problem with these reviews is that he's putting too much emphasis on the success of the football team since each school changed conferences, but the overall success rating of the moves is not tied to the recent 1 or 2-year success rate on the football field. I think the only reason he gave us a C is because of how poorly the football team has performed in the first 2 years in the Pac. He goes on to say that CU made the best move for them.

Our football team would have been just as terrible in the Big 12.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm not saying it should be an A+, but all-in-all even taking what our football record would've been in the Big 12, it's still a major plus.

Our payout might have been the same had we staying in the big 12, or at least better in the short term. Iowa State's $22 million payout sure looks a hell if a lot better than the $3 million we get for 2012.

Iowa st never gets that if the conference doesn't nearly collapse.

The PAC probably was the catalyst that got them $22 million last year but the fact remains they got close to $40 million more in revenue during the past 3 years than we did. Not gonna lie, that cuts pretty deep.

And the pressure on the administration to improve it would be less.

our football team has been turrrrible. just turrrrrrible. another couple seasons in the b12, getting violated by every conference opponent in indescribable and historic ways by old foes would have been a lot to bear. at least now we are getting violated in much better venues by teams with much more literate fans (except for Arizona state, of course). besides, if somehow we do get better, think of how shocked the new conference opponents will be. they aren't expecting it, based upon our total suckitude since joining.

Lets face it, football is king. The grade reflects this, but still, the move to the P12 was the right decision.

No doubt football is king, but if you're grading a conference switch you should look at the overall picture, just IMO

Short term the move is an F IMO. We are bleeding money, our recruiting has not improved and we haven't added any men's sports.

Long term this move should be an A+ if we get the right leadership in the AD and MM pans out as a football coach. We desperately need new facilities an we need to add some PAC 12 sports.

Whoever (buffnik?) posted about the failure in the new rec center to not have competition swimming and diving facilities was dead on. Those sports are a must for the pac12.

Sure if you're looking at just football but the same does not apply for basketball.

And why do we need to add a men's team? We were already not complying with Title IX before we added women's lacrosse.

good point about basketball. half of this last class (Fletch and Hopkins) probably would not be at CU if it wasn't for the move.

I want to add men's sports because I am sexist and prefer to watch men's sports. You know where people exchange dollars for entertainment, almost a foreign concept with our AD.
