The kid is an absolute warrior!

A meaningless point in the game, at a point in which he shouldn't have been in the game anyways, and if he is in the game, should just be handing the ball off...

An absolutely meaningless TD, and Cody took off and put his body on the line to get that six. Be pissed, hate, spit, and curse Cody, but if you can't admire what this kid in the 4th quarter on this TD, you're a miserable person.

I'll admit, I was rooting for Hansen... But we can't blame Cody for his father's inabilities, the wrong WR's on the field, and getting less time to throw than it took you to read "this".

The kid's a warrior, and he put himself on the line there for his team... to get a meaningless TD.

For those who wanted Hansen, my guess is you're about to get him. A source said Cody is not sure who he is right now.

While I appreciate how hard Cody works, how much he wants it and how much he keeps fighting until the end:

    30 / 64
    356 yards (5.6 per attempt)
    4 TDs (3 INTs)
    5 carries for -21 yards (1 TD)

He's a lightweight fighting in the heavyweight division. That takes heart, but he's not going to be winning any titles.

That's really too bad, I hope he's ok. I think we all love the guy as he is a true warrior out there, it's just too bad his dad put him in that position.

The NCAA really needs to crack down on these hits, is it just me or is there a lot more of them this season? It's almost as if players are out there trying to spear people. Suspensions need to be handed down.

That I can agree on and sadly I saw this loss coming. People smack the Mac conference but every dan year they produce NFL players and QB wise it is a conference with extreme projections NFL wise.

I honestly feel for Cody and the situation he is in. His dad is taking a **** storm now, and its partly because of his play. But its not his fault that he is in over his head, its his old mans for putting him in that spot. And I cant even imagine the locker room atmosphere right now.

in today's game, throwing at or less than 50% is terrible. good qb's are about 60%.

i got no problem with Cody as a human being or football player, but this team sucks.

Complete tunnel vision by coach Hawkins, starting to just feel badly for a son from whom more is expected than he's capable of doing. But then, "it's easy to be a critic."

It seems like a majority of his interceptions came when the game was already over and the guy was desperate. When given time, and not playing catch up, Cody is a smart QB. A more talented Greg Paulus, but without any of WRs from Syracuse.

In my mind Cody is absolutely the perfect college QB, as a back-up. He is a very intelligent guy, will give everything he has to do what he is ask to do, and he is a great teammate. He is the kind of guy who if you tell him he isn't starting, might not even play but be ready he will do it and do it with complaining. Unfortunately talentwise he is to limited in terms of physical talent to make things happen on his own and doesn't have the talent around him to cover up for his limitations.

All he can do is play hard... He has no receivers, and was just running for his life last night!!!

If this team wants any chance of turning it around, it's going to start with the O-line, and D-line, who have been awful.

Yeah, he was out there doing his best to save his dad's job, sacrificing his body, playing the best that he can, trying to show the world CU isnt really that bad.

He does have a lot of heart and gives it his all. Unfortunately it isnt enough, his father's schemes dont work and Cody can only do so much.

Bad form to keep his son in there when the game wasnt winnable anymore.

Our secondary is awful because the quarterback has 6 days to throw the ball.. no pressure

That's part of the problem, but not the whole problem. Our secondary is awful because they are out of position and lost Plus they can't break up passes on the rare occasion that they are in position to do so.

Daah--can you figure out how to send the picture of that hit to Hawk's wife? It looks to me like Cody suffered a whiplash from each side in rapid succession. As well as the 2nd direct helmut hit. It'll be a damn wonder if he doesn't have some intercranial bleeding. Apparently his Dad is too stupid to keep his own son from getting beat half to death, so maybe Cody's Mother needs to go to bat for him.

    1.)It's football.
2.)Leave Cody's mother and Hawk's wife off this board.

looks like that RS could be pulled... I have been a huge Cody supporter for the longest time, but if Hansen can be convinced to pull his RS (if I were him, I would refuse), he should play.

How dare you blame the DL. Every recruiting season nobody thinks we are that bad at the position. We are. They are not the only reason. Our safties are too slow and out of position.

    yup... DL + safeties...

To be fair, Polk isn't slow, he just doesn't know what he is doing. Mahnke was obviously gimpy and should not have been playing, he couldn't make a cut to save his life (2d TD proved that one). On the coaches.

Any secondary will look bad when the QB has all day to throw the ball. It all starts with a pass rush.

    :yeahthat:

Still doesn't explain the missed tackles, and overall poor execution on D.

    Off topic, oh well.

Misti Hawkins is a nurse by training and has another son, Drew, who was forced to give up college football this year after a concussion.

I agree with keeping her off the boards, but immediately broke my own rule only to say that there is probably nobody more aware and protective of Cody's health that she is. Every indication is that both Hawkins are caring, involved and great parents and will take Cody's health very seriously.

Also...why was he allowed to walk around after the game?..he's out there shaking hands and smiling and talking to players, holdling his helmet.

You would think that someone would have been concerned about him and would have been tending to him if he was hurt. No one was.

I don't want him to be hurt, but I don't know I will believe he is either...it might be another one of his dad's "stories" to take the heat off.

Otherwise, he should have been escorted by a trainer into the locker room and not be ignored and left to wander the field post-game.
