Playing this game at Invesco is a joke. That stadium sucks all the fun out of college football, in my opinion. The upper deck was a ghost town, we had to pay a **** load to park, deal with traffic down to Denver. The place the put the bands means that no one can hear their own band, we can only hear the other team's band.

Then, let's talk about the student section. They made us print out tickets that basically meant no one had a ticket near their friends. So, we figured they'd just let it be a big gen admission section unless someone really wanted their seat. But, they wouldn't let you down into the lower sections unless your ticket was there. Not only that, they were really ****ty about telling you they wouldn't let you in. Total BS, in my opinion.

I don't like anything about doing this game in Denver.

Agree totally. The place sucks, it's a sterile environment.

It was pretty lame seeing the upper deck half empty.

Guess college football has a long way to go in CO......

I don't understand what you are saying.

Are you saying CO football fans are more fair weather than in Carolina or the ACC? Or are you stating that both CO teams are in a slump?

Coming into this game, CSU was on a seven game skid, and CU was 2-10. Was anyone expecting a sell-out for a 10AM game that is held 90-120 miles away from either campus?

I think it would have been full if it was at Folsom.

It really looked lame on TV after our first TD and the stands were empty on the extra point. The band, apparently, was just entering that section.

But not as lame as the Wolverines getting plowed under by the "other" Mountaineers in the Big House.:lol::lol:

I'm saying the former, and I am a huge admirer of some of these SEC, Big 10 schools or remote places like Blacksburg, VA, or Clemson, SC that can sell out large stadiums way in advance, yet how can a major city of 3 million+ not sell out a college game involving the 2 area state schools. Why the CO college teams don't draw great has always been a long-running topic in the Denver area, but I think the simple answer is that Denver is a pro-sports town.

Exactly! If CU can put 55k into Folsom and Hughes can hold 35k, why the **** can't Invesco be packed with 76k? Especially when they put the game in Denver for "all the alumni in the Denver metro area", whatever the **** that means.... Clearly, Denver is a pro sports town. The 3rd Broncos preseason game had more fans in the stadium than today's game.

I HATE the game at Invesco, but it's tolerable when the Buffs win

Probably need ABSINTHE to chime in on that one to give the run down on media markets.

Virginia, Nebraska or Alabama don't have NFL teams within driving distance. I'd guarantee a sell out every time if the Donkey's weren't around. How many Broncos fans are also season ticket holders to the Buffs or Rams?

I doubt many. I've got good friends that have Broncos season tixs, they're also huge CU fans, but for financial and time constraints, they can only make 2-3 CU home games a year.

I've done the CU & Broncos season tickets deal for one year, and it's rough. Too many exhausting weekends (not to mention the $$ it takes)....

And schools like Nebraska, OU, Va Tech, Clemson, etc. also aren't in cities with over 3 million people in the metro area. I'll pull one example out of many - a place like State College, PA can draw 100K+ for a game against anyone, yet a major city like Denver can't even sell out a college game involving 2 area teams. Furthermore, the 2 major cities relatively close to State College both have NFL teams. 'Nuff said.

Denver's a pro sports town, mainly a Broncos town. I love Denver and I'm a huge Bronco fan, but with college football being my favorite sport it always killed me that the college support in the area was less than stellar. And it's even worse with college b-ball.

Exactly, that's 80K right there. So add in the people who don't want to make the drive to Boulder or Fort Collins to see a college game, then why isn't the ticket demand for this game thru the roof?

A night game would have been a sell out. 10 AM games totally suck.

True, the 10am start was a huge deterrent.

OK, I'm gonna go watch Tenn-Cal now!

If I can only afford to attend one CU game per season...I want to see a conference game at Folsom.

Yeah, but. Dallas is a town of over 3M, and they can't sell out SMU's tiny 40K stadium. Are you going to make a case that Dallas has a long way to go to support college football, too?

Hurricane's only sell out the Orange Bowl (72k) when either Florida, Florida State, or Virginia Tech are in town.

Thats because Folsom is smaller.

The passion isn't there in the state to get behind a CU/CSU game in Denver and sell out 76,000 seats.. The games should be held at the school campuses regardless of the added revenue we get from the game being played in Invesco....

Miami--the canes sell out when FAMU comes to town too!!!

KO time and last season's results have a lot more to do with the situation than the relative quality of fans...if the buffs were coming off a 10-2 season and the rams an MWC championship more casual fans would have been there.

It still doesn't change the fact that the place saps the soul out of the college game, and after going to 4 of them in Denver, I probably won't fly out for any more, I'll go the years they are on campus, just my prefrence.
