I feel kind of guilty saying anything critical. I sure don't want to say anything bad about the kids. Hell, they are just kids. I love every one of them. On the other hand, I yell at MY kids all the time, when they screw up. So I don't think its fair that if you criticize a bit that you get lambasted.

I'll bet all those 18 and 19 year olds in Iraq got screamed at and yelled at a helluva lot. That is part of becoming a man or woman. I guess there is a fine line there. I'm, really, more pissed at the coaches for not having a better game plan. Afterall, Mizzou's defense isn't very highly rated, yet they came into our house and punked us. All of that being said, we are on the right track. Within the next couple of years, we will become a Big XII and national powerhouse.

My question is, where do you draw the line? I think that it is very easy to get emotional because you love the team so much. It hurts when they get beat up. Then you take that pain and vent a bit and it comes across as criticism of the kids and/or program. These young men will be all right.

don't you think the kids in iraq have a unit leader screaming at them? do they need it from you too?

don't you think the buffs have a coaching staff to apply the heat? they will not need it from you, as well.

criticize the coaches. they are paid. criticize professional athletes for the same reason.

criticize the kids and your cyber-house will get tagged and your balls will hurt.

Sure its okay to critizice them. They played like ass yesterday. But keep in mind that these guys don't owe you anything. All that "I paid for my seats" BS is stupid. They aren't professional athletes. They are kids who still went out there saturday and played the best they could. They just got beat by the better team.

Ya know, before I even read your reply, I thought the same thing. You are right. The coaches are kind of fair game. The kids really aren't. Hell, I don't want to criticize anyone. I didn't even criticize Shawn Watson, for cryin' out loud. Well, maybe I did once or twice.

I think it is always fair to be honest. If a kid did not play well, it is not unfair to say "Joe Blow had a bad day". It is not fair to say "Joe Blow sucks ass, and should never have been a Buffalo. I hope they revoke his schollie tomorrow." Just MHO...

Yep, and 70% of them are playing the last football of their lives, having fun with it. After college they will go on to their professional lives, more than likely not pro football.

Yeah, I guess that is about is far as I'd go. Like, "Man, Joe had a tough day," or "we need an upgrade at such and such a position." I'll have to say, for instance, I've criticised Eb a couple of times this year. But its kind of funny, because, really, you feel bad for the kid more than anything.

I think after we upset OU too many people started thinking that we are better then we had originally anticipated. Now in my opinion we are better then what I thought going into the season but certainly we are not a team that should be thinking about upsetting BCS bound teams week in and week out. I am proud of this team and proud of the direction that we are headed in. I do not always agree with some of the decisions being made but I am encouraged how we have played with very little talent. Yes we got hammered yesterday but ho cares, let's move on and prepare for ISU, who showed they are not dead and buried yet. A bowl game is within site and that is what I want for this team.

Can you at least give me Robert Hodge and Pat Brougham? I've GOT to be able to lay a little retroactive smack on those two... I mean, there have to be exceptions to every rule, right?

Every ****ing fan of every goddamn sport criticizes their team players. It's free speech, if you don't like it leave!

    Geezuz.

IF a players sucks he sucks. Their not kids, their men. We live in a society where we are raising a bunch of nancy boys and new age guys who feel as if we have to coddle our youth.

    Guess, what!

18 year old kids get told they suck at work and get fired for underperforming. 18 year old kids who are working to support a baby, and have a hard life, and we're here getting all hissy fit over full ride schollie players.

I tell you what, if someone said i suck and i was on full scholly i wouldn't be ass butthurt as some of you guys here. I'd be laughing my ass of to a free education, room and board, and a hot broad.

WHile you're off blowing gaskets on a message board, i'd be in my dorm getting blown by some hot college skank and groupies, posssibly unleash and valdez...he he ...jk!

    So who gives a ****?

actually, it is part of the terms of service.

with speech comes responsibility. if you cannot grasp that, you are probably too young to be of age to post here. step back from the facination you call the internet, giggle a little over skin mags, and rejoin us in about 6 years when you get it.

ultimately, the creator of the boards gets to decide what is and is not acceptable. racism and unconstrictive bashing on kids are two things that are just not okay here.

any further questions, please refer to the forum rules link. thanks.

Like with a persons own child, I think it depends on the way it is presented. If someone is just venting their anger over a loss and they are going to say pointless, demeaning or mean spirited things, what is being accomplished?? They are only soothing their own anger.

On the other hand if it is an honest critic from a position of knowledge where the sport is concerned I don't think it is out of place to make an observation. Though it may be convienient you can't lay it all on the coaches.

Case in point: Three turnovers in a game by the same kid. Have the coaches really not taught them how to hold on to the ball, had the kids practice holding on to the ball and then proceeded to preach holding on to the ball over and over again. If the answer is no then the team really needs a new coaching staff that will. It seems much more likely the kid just had a tough game. What would the kid himself say about it?? If he would say "I didn't play well" is it really a sin for us to agree?

WORLD of difference between what prompted the rule, and what you are saying, swish.

a critique that is constructive is one thing.

pointless frothing at the mouth which does nothing but BASH a kid is an entirely another matter.

Upon actually reading the rules like I should have instead of just spouting off I can only say yep and is there any way to add the "embarrassed" smilie to the list? There have been a couple of time lately that I sure could have used it.

3/4 of what you just said is fiction.

    It's NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!

It's garbage, and the mod of any board who would let you post it, is also garbage!

    Makes me want to puke!

I think criticism is ok, as long as it is constructive.

It comes with the territory of being a major D-1 college football player.

Remember though, they are just kids playing a game, and from the sounds of it, I think you have a pretty good handle on it.

I can tell you first hand, playing in front of a sold out crowd is quite a bit different than anything else you've ever experienced and sometimes you just screw up. Sometimes you're head is just not in the game. Kids are constantly dealing with stuff. Whether is be stressing over a class, "Will i be eligible next week?" They could be dealing with, ahem, a tough breakup with a significant other, they could be dealing with problems between mom & dad. Heck, it could be a host of different things, I'm just saying there's a lot more going on in these kids' lives than just what you see on Saturday afternoon.
