Now, everybody else bolt from the Big X and leave UT standing there with their dicks in their hands...
That would make my ****ing day!!!
Great for us, but I still don't get it.
Why on earth would KU, KSU, ISU, MU, BU, Tech, and OSU surrender any and all control of their future destiny to UT? And don't answer $$$$, I got it - it's too easy and the little 7 are still making $10M less than UT, OU and aTm, which is now a BIGGER difference than before!
Without Texas I wouldn't invite any other big 12 schools. Invite Utah and keep this a western conference.
This is fantastic, plus our deal will definitely be lucrative as well with the Pac 12 network, and no damn texans! The funny thing is going to be watching the stagnant Big 12(10) with OU an UT winning every year just like in the actual Big 10(12) with OSU and Michigan. Only difference is the lil guys in the Big 10(12) get equal revenue sharing for getting their asses kicked. The lil guys in the Big 12(10) just get their asses kicked.
Where was this 'lucrative' TV deal 2 months ago?
some one tell the Utes...
Well, ESPN is now reporting this. UT isn't going anywhere. Its over, Pac-12 here we come.
That's a big financial blow to the Pac-10.
Yes, but now they can have a conference game, add two large media markets, plus Wyoming and Montana (small, I know) and will surely come out with a net positive. Plus, this is fantastic for CU. Join the Pac-10 or the Big 12 South? I'll Take the Pac-10.
Oklahoma Sooners=Texas' bitch!
i fail to see how this is a good thing. i dislike texas as much as the next guy, but the fact that they aren't coming with us to the pac means that we are going to get WAY less money through the tv contract and we are going to have to pay a lot of penalty money for leaving the big 12 as well. financially, this is the worst thing that could have happened. cu's athletic department is still going to be in the poor house
Short term yes. Long term it's for the best. Look at the money that Texas and OU will get moving forward. We can't compete with that. UT will continue to get more and more powerful at the expense of the other schools.
The PAC 10 will enable us to compete on a level playing field with the other conference members.
Here's how: "In the 11th hour, after months of telling us they understand the TV rights, they're trying to pull a fast one on the verge of sealing the deal in the regents meeting," the source said. "They want a better revenue sharing deal and their own network. Those were points of principle. (The Pac-10) wants to treat everyone fairly. It's been that way for months of discussions."
The "they" is Texas.
The story is in the DP.
The Big Texas conference. Damn I am so glad to be outta here. aTm just proved they have a 3 inch penis.
You forget, PAC 12 Network. Everyone will share in that. Long term this is the best thing for the university. We have more alums on the West Coast and get us away from football factories like OU, UT and aggy which allows us some time to get our facilities in order.
PLus a top 20 market in Denver and a top 30 in SLC will add to LA, Seattle, Phoenix, etc. This is going to be good for Colorado!
wow... I can't believe how spineless all the other schools are. Guess they didn't have a choice.
Whatever, in a couple years this whole thing will be in shambles anyways. Sacky is being near prophetic on this.
Financially it may not be good for CU in a pure, bottom line sense. But let's not pretend that the Pac-12 is going to be settling for some deal like the MWC has for The Mountain when they re-up their TV deal. U$C is still going to be a pretty good TV draw by the time we get there, and schools in Seattle, San Fran, Phoenix, LA, Denver, SLC, etc. are still going to be pretty appealing to TV providers. I think saying we're still going to be in the poor house might be just a bit of an overreaction.
And for every penny of the extra money CU would have seen for the inclusion of UT, OU, etc. in the league, every team in the Pac-16 east would have been seeing the same. And most of them a ****load more. The Texass $$ would have been nice. Being forced into a loveless marriage with the Big XII south (other than Baylor) would not have been...
I's rather we die standing on our feet in the Pac - 12 then die on our knees as a whore in UT's harem.
Basically, Texas is going where the money is. Best case scenario: UT gets caught in a huge scandal in the next few years, or Mack Brown leaves and they get ****ty, and UT drops to the bottom half of the conference in appearances and they lose a ton of $$.
Every other big 12 team just bent over. Wow. Prostitutes.
This comment deserves both a  and a .
It's funny because it's true...
Road games in AZ,UT,CA,OR and WA. I am ****ing giddy right now
I think the only way it would have been bad is if UT, OU, etc. went to another conference, leaving the Pac to scramble to put together a super conference with a bunch of lesser schools. With the number of conferences staying the same, and no imminent super conferences to compete with, the Pac12 network (or whatever the new TV deal turns out to look like) should more than make up for the leaving penalties, and we are in a place much more suited to us overall.
Family in Seattle, Family in SLC. Friends in SF, and LA... Oregon is gorgeous....
This is gonna be good.
