Let's hope that Hawk and company can somehow get an identity associated with this team. Two years ago it was using the shotgun offense. Last spring it was the no-huddle, hurry up offense that spit and sputtered it's way through the season.

I know they are searching and trying their best but how about just simplifying things. For the first time in a long time we are going to be loaded at running back. Our offensive line was battered with injuries this year but we will now have some depth with real game time experience. Experienced tight ends with some young talent in the wings. Wide reciever is a big question mark in my mind.

This looks like a perfect recipe to line up and play some old Buff smashmouth football. Pound the ball and when the D starts cheating up you play action them to death with the te down the middle of the field. Let's not continue to try and outsmart ourselves, out trick the other team and just beat them down.

I just hope we get rid of the identity we have established for the past 10 years, you know the one "We are hear to make your team look better!"

We've got an identity. It is run from the shotgun on 1st and 2nd down to set up a 3rd and 14 fake the handoff (because like, yeah, we would run for it on 3rd and 14 from the gun) and then pass it for 4-7 yards and hope to break 4 tackles to get the 1st.

I would love to see our RBs used in a power running game. Put Hansen in there with Sumler as the fullback, Scott as the Running Back, and Speedy as an Ismail/Desmond Howard type with Josh Smith at WR. Everyone on the field minus the TE would be a legit threat to run the ball. Run some power I, force it up the middle and when the D starts focusing on that swing Speedy out for a few passes and hit Jfly deep out of the play action.

Or we could hand it off from the shotgun for a 2 yard loss each time.

I agree. How did we beat OU last year? WE RAN BETWEEN THE FRIGGEN TACKLES WITH VERY LITTLE SHOTGUN!! I think the coaches outsmart themselves all the time, "we'll run the zone option with Cody because they dont think Cody can run".

You know what that will lead to next year right? Tosses over the holder's head to the kicker trying to pick up the fir... Ooops... Touchdown the other way!
