CORVALLIS, Ore.—For the first time in program history the University of Colorado soccer team finished the non-conference slate without a loss. The No. 23 Buffaloes (8-0-1) now shift their focus to conference play, starting with Oregon State this Friday.

Colorado's success in the early portion of the season has gained the team national attention. The Buffs entered the United Soccer Coaches poll for the first time this week. Colorado is just one of 14 DI teams to remain unbeaten.

"You want to have momentum going into Pac-12 play, head coach Danny Sanchez said following Sunday's win over Denver. "So, we have good momentum. Conference is a whole different deal. These nine games were great, but these next 11 games will really show what we are all about."
...

Oregon State, who was picked 12th in the conference preseason poll, has had a shaky start to its season. The Beavers come into Friday's game with a 1-7-0 record. OSU has been on the wrong side of some tight contests. They are 0-3 in one-goal games, falling to Clemson, Stony Brook and Dartmouth.

McKenzie Weinert has scored two of the Beavers' four goals this season.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. MT. The game will be called by Ann Schatz and Temryss Lane across the Pac-12 Networks.

The Beavers have ten freshmen, two of them start including the goalkeeper, and a transfer. The offense has struggled, they average less than eight shots a game and have scored four goals. We "should" be OK today even if Erin and Taylor (and Jorian?) are out along with Hannah who's out for the season. We are strong in the net, the freshmen have REALLY stepped up on defense, and we are deep at forward.

That said, the Beavers are at home and I suspect are quite hungry.

QUOTABLE:
Head Coach Danny Sanchez

On start to Pac-12 play
"We talked as a team and I thought it was really important for us to get off to a fast start. Pac-12 is a fresh season for everybody. I was really pleased with how we came out, getting the early goal from Emily [Groark] and just kept the pressure on through most of the first half. It was definitely a good start for us."

On spreading the ball around
"Through these first 10 games, we have shown that we are pretty dynamic in the attack. Our players are unselfish. They are getting rewarded for running after the ball. Hopefully, that movement and that combination play continue as we push into the Pac-12 schedule."

On Colorado's goal scoring
"I thought Jorian [Baucom] and Tatum [Barton] were both very good in their limited minutes. Jorian put herself in two good spots for her two goals. Tatum is just playing with all the confidence in the world. I also felt it was really good for Emily [Groark] to get her first goal at CU and then for Cami [Shymka] to get her first goal of the season as well. We have a lot of options going forward. Obviously, we are pleased with how Jorian and Tatum are combining up top right now."

how did CSU hold this team to 0 goals. Dynamic team and a team that can core goals. Team is so much better with Korniak.

First match of the season. If they played now it would be ugly.
Actually the CSU match was the second of the season for the Buffs. They had defeated Air Force on Thursday night 3-0 at the AFA. As for how CSU held the Buffs to a scoreless tie, I'd say these are some of the reasons:

• CSU was massively up for the match, the bench was standing the whole time, etc.
• CSU's goalie was exceptional - she's a transfer from South Carolina
• CU was off by inches from scoring multiple goals.

Fortunately, the Buffs took out their frustration on Mizzou in the next match, 6-0.
