Sounds like CSU game would be a goner without that stupid contract.
    Also, adding a women's sport...softball? gymnastics?

This is very good to hear. With the scholarships and costs that go to a women's sport (and not adding a men's sport at the same time), you could draw a conclusion that it would partially be to balance future spending on a men's sport (football). I'd like to see some official announcements and things in writing sometime soon, as I can see how a football recruit might view it as us sitting on our hands, while many of our competitors already have excellent facilities, have broken ground, or have concrete plans for improvement.

Bohn made specific mention of the "silent phase" of fundraising they're in right now in regards to facilities upgrades. This is the first public indication I've seen from him that shows that we are, indeed, planning some signficant football facilities upgrades. This is very exciting. I think it should be emphasized that this is exactly the right way of going about it. You draw up plans and share them with a limited number of potential big-dollar donors. You run the campaign so that you get 75-80% of the funds pledged prior to going public. If what we're hearing is correct, and that they're going to go public at some point in the next six months, that means we're looking at 1-2 years before we start the renovations, and 2-3 years before they're completed. This is all "read between the lines" kind of stuff. But I've worked on capital campaigns before, and this is how it's done.

    THIS. IS. GOOD. NEWS.

Cautiously optimistic. If he gets an announcement out there before summer, I will be happy. Spring Game would be ideal.

Whenever the announcement is made (if it is made), we need to make a splash.

Certainly not expensive to run a LAX program, but I would have thought they would go with an Olympic sport given the PAC10's history. There's still time to change directions and go with women's curling.

That is my thought as well. Also, is it really going to fly with the PAC12 for us to add a sport that will compete in the MPSF when we still have PAC12 sports that we aren't competing in? I'm assuming Larry Scott would rather we add softball.

We don't have facilities for softball.

Regarding WLAX, the following schools have varsity squads:

    Cal
    Oregon
    Stanford
    USC

The Pac-12 is getting close to being able to make this a conference sport. There are good club programs at the other schools.

In the meantime, DU is in the MPSF as a local rival for us and I would guess that USC is joining next spring.

He could also be doing this to make sure we are even in spports so we could possibly add Baseball in the future once we get money.

My hope is that it's softball, which would lead to baseball. However, from previous interviews Bohn has given, it doesn't sound like that's in the cards for the near future. Even so, that doesn't mean we can't hope for that.

It would be funny if CU added Women's shooting & rifle team. This is the Title IX elixir of WVU, TCU, and others working on the cheap.

field hockey/lax are the angles. best choice would be swimming/diving imo. but, students voted down a real pool in favor of some Mazatlan BS outdoor pool in the new Rec Center upgrade.

So how much does adding a new sport cost? About 1 mil?

I don't think that poster could have cost more than $900,000.

I suppose for numbers this is essential to do it as a women's sport but I think men's tennis got a raw deal several years ago. Clearly already have the facilities to bring that one back, and I think we'd be competitive quickly, too.

I find it interesting that TCU's stadium was included in that article...does that mean Folsom Field is in line for a Husky Stadium-esque upgrade?

Bohn needs to hire a stylist. His shirt looked like an optical illusion.
