My ridiculously early top 25 for 2014: Florida State is No. 1 (for now)

    The annual "lets do rankings for the sake of doing rankings."

    I have come to agree that rankings shouldn't even start until several weeks in to the season. Completely unfair to the teams on the outside looking in and gives way too much advantage to those that start at the top and only have 1-3 losses over the year vs. those that started outside the top 25.

    That list, including the "others receiving votes" was a simple shuffling of the existing teams. Given the typical roster experiences a 20-30% turnover of starters, I don't care how much talent you stockpile, it is wildly unscientific of an analysis to shoot that out the day after the bowls - and not many voters will do much additional study before the start of the 2014 season.
