Bieniemy is one of four candidates — all with strong ties to the university — who are known to have interviewed for the job. The biggest issue with Bieniemy’s candidacy is the fact that he’s never been a head coach or even a coordinator at any level. Inexperience aside, Bieniemy reportedly acquitted himself very well during his interview with athletic director Mike Bohn and the seven-member search committee over the weekend.

Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain and Houston head coach Kevin Sumlin are two candidates with no direct ties to the university who are also under consideration.

The Post also reports that a new head coach could be named as early as this week.

Hurry up Mikey. Hurry the hell up.

Wait, I thought everybody got calls at 10 pm last night, from Phil Anschutz, while Bohn and Benson fought a rogue group of "femnazis" outside the room?

    Wasn't that what happened?

If kevin Sumlin gets the job, I will turn be done. The guy who built Houston football coaches at Baylor. Why would we give this guy an interview?

Briles or Sumlin, Houston's recent fortunes rose and then fell with Case Keenum. When Keenum got hurt (against UCLA?), they tanked.

This season that is the case but UH was good with Kevin Kolb (current Philadelphia Eagle) who played there from 03-06. Keenum took over midway through 2007 for them.
