That kid "TheTruth" that used to poke around here was a student at Ponderosa, he probably knows a few things about Carara. Of course I doubt TheTruth will see this, so that's probably a moot point.

As far as my knowledge of the situation is concerned, I can assure you that Mr. Matthew Carara has benefited from the single finest, though simultaneously most miserably underfunded, public high school education that this state has to offer. I can also assure you that Carara has spent more than his fair share of time in a miserable **** hole of a town, with nothing to do outside of browsing big box retailers and eating at chain restaurants. He also almost certainly grew up in a house covered with aluminum siding.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of these points have much relevance to his on the field potential.

My wife teaches at Overland. She went to some games. I will see if she paid attention to the kicking and the punting at all. My guess is a big no.

    He exists, statistically.:smile2:

ranked 15th in the state his senior year.
Long FG of 36 yards. Attempted 2 and Made 2 fgs overall.

But if you look at the Box Scores of his last high school game, you might recognize a familiar name ... or two.

This is more good news. I don't know any of the guys who are on the list but I do know that most of the top programs in the country have significant contributions from walk-ons. Some times this is from a guy who was slow to develop in HS and later adds pounds, inches or speed or develops his skills. Even some of the schools know for deep, highly rated recruiting classes like Texas sometimes get a walk-on or two that end up playing and contributing significantly. Other times these guys give you some core players on special teams. At the least a good group of walk-ons gives you depth in your scout teams helping to prepare for future opponents and allowing you to run full practices without overworking your regulars or guys with injuries.

Manarino tripped to Princeton and Cal Poly SLO out of HS, Grandview HS has had some speed so if Marion Brown ran track for them he has some athletic ability, Matthew Carara is from Ponderosa who has had some decent LBs and some good coaching. Silipo played some at UNC and looks to be a big body, seems like a guy who believes that he belongs at a higher level than the Big Sky.

If he had been healthy we probably would have had a significant contribution this year from Jason Espinoza including a reliable KO returner. Where would we have been without Jeff Smart.

Can you build a program with walk-ons? No. Can they contribute to winning? Absolutely.
    Welcome to all of them

Um... I think anyone who has followed the Buffs the last few years realizes the value of our walkons. Some of us wish they would play a bit less of a prominent role in our starting lineup.

I do also, I wish Sipili had stepped forward this year and taken charge at the ILB. He didn't and Smart filled in well although he is smaller than we would like and not neccessarily quick. Still a number of top 20 teams have had walk-ons not only play but start and contribute.

A solid walk-on program give the coaches a little extra flexibility and with the 85 scholly limit can make a real difference in depth. Even if a walk-on saves a team from having to pull a redshirt on a kid due to injuries ahead of him it can make a major difference.

If they don't turn out no big loss, if they help we are ahead.

Already been and gone. 1985 was the year, I believe. I missed the concert, but was working at a local fast food restaurant when about 200 kids descended on the place with a BAAAAADD case of the munchies. Oh, what a night.

I think the list on CUBuffs only has students who transfered oh graduated early. I don't believe it has the high school seniors who would be walking on.

On a separate note; any news on Quentin Hildreth(sp?)?. I think he has a real possibility to contribute somewhere on the Buffs.

I love that kid. He will be huge for the buffs. Other schools will be scratching their noggins wondering how they missed him.

But no news on Q, other than he and Thornton got knocked out of the state basketball playoffs earlier than expected this year. I'll try to find out when he is reporting to Boulder, I'd expect he'd be there in June with his teammates.

You've seen this before, but worth watching again. Skills and speed.

That was my first rock concert, went with Pete to Big Mac to see them. I remember a girl threw a big (BIG) pair of panties on the stage, David Lee Roth held them up and said 'Damn Eddie, now Valorie is throwing them at me!' i remember thinking 'Uh oh, that doesn't sound good.'

20 years later, she is still HOT he looks like Keith Richards.

I coached Zack Farley, He played DE for us for three years and played outside LB as a senior. He was a 3.5 gpa guy so you won't have to worry about him not being eligible. I will load some clips of him on you tube when I get a chance. I have a great game on film of Horizon vs Legacy from a few years ago. Its pretty sweet Zack had four sacks and Kasa had one hell of a game too
