I am still not expecting much out of our team until they prove me otherwise, but you can't help to look at what we have on offense returning.

Most of our line, Hopefully Hansen, Speedy, Lockridge, and what I'm really looking forward to is the WR's. Simas, McNight and Simmons and the addition of Toney Clemons. Add in some depth with Jefferson, Ussery and Darden, and we really have the talent to do some special things on offense if our O-line gels and stays healthy. Gotta admit they started playing better the last few games.

I think Simas started to break out at the end of the season (3 100 yard games in the last 4). I think he could explode into a big time play making WR that we haven't seen in a while.

WR will be strong but fixing the OLine will not be a quick fix. If the problem was bad coaching or bad habits, it will take a while to correct. If it was schematic in nature, that can be corrected quickly. I don't know if they plan on keeping Miller at Guard but a guy that size, at that position is not a good match from a leverage standpoint.

TE may be a weak spot. Some of the Seniors there will be missed.

Hawkins HAS to find a way to generate 150+/game on the ground for things to work with the young QB.

I agree and the O-line is the key to a good consistent offense. We do have the skill positions there.

The key is going to be the OL. We need to figure out how to get the best 5 players on the field after spring. We can't flip flop around all offseason. Solder is probably out best LT, but I'd like to see Givens have a shot at it, not sure which one pass blocks better. LG should be MTM, but if he's still injured we need some open competition here. C not sure what to make of the season Stevens and Iltis had. Stevens seemed to get pushed around at will, but Iltis didn't seem too great either. RG Miller was less than spectacular this season, I don't know what his deal was, but we need him to step it up big time next year. RT should be Givens if he doesn't win the LT job. I'd like to see how Dannewitz, Harris, Daniels, Tau, Bahr, and Adkins look next season. Maybe Bakhtiari or Handler can contribute on the interior too. If there's one thing for certain, we have some options at least.

I expect us to have a very good offensive line next year. They really came on against Nebraska. And with O-lines, being veteran is ridiculously important. As starters, we had 2 juniors, one of which was a walk-on and the other was converted from tight end 2 years ago. The other 3 were a couple sophomores and a freshman. Next year, we're looking at 8 returning upperclassmen o-linemen on scholarship (9 if Stevens is granted a schollie). Compare that with 1 in 2009.

To me the OL is always the key. Run or pass, it all starts there...

The good news is that I expect the OL to be very good next year, although the WR may struggle... I base that on the fact that we all expected the OL to be the strength of the team this year and the WR to struggle. Since it seems like we were 180 degrees off on that, it only makes sense to assume our expectations will be completely wrong again next year....

I'm worried that we don't have any big backs getting much playing time. We need to have someone to compliment speedy/block.

Totally agree. One thing that could help a lot would be if Sumler could add 10-15 lbs of muscle this offseason. He has the potential to be a decent short yardage guy (and some time fullback) for us if he'd do that. As a senior, that would give Mister Jones time to develop without hanging too much hope on him as a true freshman.

No way he goes to Buffalo. But, I would not rule out Dallas or a top-notch college program.....

Yes, we need these guys to gel, just like the QB, we need them to go through the entire offseason knowing they are the starters. We need the same coach. That is the biggest key for a good O-line. We have had 2 problems on why are line has struggled.

    a) Mixing in players, not the same guys always
    b) 4 or 5 coaches in as many years really ****s them up.

They need consistency in those two areas to gel good.

weird to think that the weakest part of the O is now RB. Hope to see a lot more Block next year.. Speedy really needs to stop getting the ball more then 15 times a game. he noticeably wore down this year, and started fumbling and making bad decisions. Pretty excited for Mister Jones.

Yep. We have little to no RB depth at all right now. Hoping we can find that complement to Speedy because he simply cannot hold up for 25 carries a game.
