THE GAME: The University of Colorado will face its first road test of the season, playing at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. MST, at the American Bank Center.
BROADCAST: Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on KKZN AM 760 with Mike Rice at the call. Live video is available through the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi website. Go to www.goislanders.com for more information on how to subscribe.
OPENING TIP: Colorado is riding a three-game winning streak on the road dating back to last season.
ABOUT THE BUFFALOES: Colorado got its 2011-12 season started off on the right foot, running past Northern Arizona 84-60 on Nov. 11 at the Coors Events Center.
The Buffaloes had three players in double figures, led by sophomore Brittany Wilson with 22 points. Freshman Lexy Kresl tied a school record with five three-pointers in the first half, finishing with 15, and sophomore Chucky Jeffery came off the bench to add 11 points.
CU finished its first game with a 57.1 percentage from the field (32-of-56) and was at 66.7 percent from the free throw line (12-of-18). NAU, also opening its season, was held to 37.5 percent shooting (21-of-56).
BUFFS IN OPENERS: With the win over Northern Arizona, Colorado improved to 33-5 (.868) all-time in season openers as the Buffaloes started the season with a home game for the 26th time in 38 seasons. Colorado moved to an outstanding 36-2 (.947) all-time in home openers. Colorado has never lost its overall season opener when played at home (26-0).
ABOUT THE ISLANDERS: Texas A&M-Corpus Christi dropped its season opener to Missouri, 75-58, at home on Nov. 12. Three players scored in double-digits for the Islanders, led by guard Verne'qua Taylor who had 12 points on 5-of-10 from the field. Forward Trish Amboree had 11 points and guard Marquesha Anderson had 10. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi shot just 33 percent for the game.
The Islanders are coming off a 2-27 campaign in 2010-11, but this is a new look team featuring just one returning starter and seven newcomers. Jessica Jammer is the one returing starter for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, averaging 8.1 points and 4.1 rebounds as a sophomore. Jammer came off the bench against Missouri, grabbing a team-best eight rebounds to go along with six points.
SERIES RECORDS: Colorado and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi meet for the first time in women's basketball.
The Buffaoes are 7-1 against teams that make up the Southland Conference, most recently defeating Texas State 67-35 on Dec. 1, 2010. CU's only loss against a Southland Conference squad was against Texas State, then known as Southwest Texas State, on Dec. 5, 1991, in San Marcos, Texas.
Linda Lappe has never faced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as a head coach. Robert Robinson has never faced Colorado as a head coach.

Down 38-39 with 13:50 to go. They've pulled down another 4 offensive rebounds in the fist 6 minutes of the 2nd half. Getting outhustled.

We continue to jack up 3s instead of attacking and are 2/14 from outside.

Way to win, Ladies! It sounds as if we did not play well (effort related?), but all that matters is the win. Not every game will go as planned.

Sounds like the frontcourt got in early foul trouble so they had to adjust the game plan. Good to see them find a way to win when the taller inside presence isn't working and the 3 point shots also weren't falling as well as they can. The kind of game that required in game adjustmnets by the coaches and by the players and required mental toughness from the players ... i.e. the kind of game that, under the previous coaching regime, would have likely resulted in an L instead of a W. Good going ladies.

Now I know where to come during CU Lady Buff games! BeBe's statement is accurate. Under the previous coaching staff, this game would have been a loss. The kids didn't believe they would lose. Lappe has instilled that in them. Seabrook and Hartig both got in foul trouble very early, as did Ashley Wilson.

Buffs only had 11 turnovers. Chucky is quite the player and continues to show her stuff.
