Official ISU @ CU prediction thread

With the automatic 14 points I'd knock off any score since HaLk was on the bench now gone.....

Buffs - 35
Butthole of America, Ames Iowa - 21

Ames is the butthole of America? So is CU part of a cheek?

I've lived a summer of my life in Ames (having lots of Iowa family)....and in comparison to Boulder....Ames = ****-hole x2....if you've never been to Colorado, let alone Boulder, best to not speak

Been to Boulder many times and I love it. But to call Ames a butthole is assinine. Its small for sure, but its far from a dump.

A **** hole that routinely wins awards for being one of the best small cities in America. Ames is definitely small, but it's far from a **** hole. It's a great college town, and a damn good time for a college kid.

And yes, I've been to Colorado numerous times in my life. I've spent time in Denver, Co Springs, FoCo, Salida, BV, Lake City, Aspen, Vail, Summit Co, and Telluride. Wonderful places, all of them.

Disjointed game, lots of CU penalties. Lots of emotion early, resignation late. CU 17, ISU 35. Defense is shot, no depth and too many injuries.

It's a nice small town....indeed greater **** holes in the Big 12, but definitely near the bottom IMO....from my experiences, Iowa City is far greater than Ames...Ames reminds me of just about 20 other cities in Iowa/Nebraska IMHO....I enjoy these cities a few times a year to visit family, but can really only handle a few days before I go stir crazy...don't take it personally fellas

I've never seen fans on a 5 game losing streak that just blew a 45-17 4th quarter lead to the worst team in the conference so confident.

Yeah absolutely. Of course no one is expecting a drastic turnaround, but I'm of the general belief that the presence of Hawkins literally made the Buffs' performances worse. Seriously though, our players aren't going to give up and I think we may see an inspired team Saturday. Keep in mind that you are Iowa State, and while your Clones are well-coached and experiencing unprecedented success for your school, you're still pretty mediocre in the grand scheme of things(I see that 52-0 loss and Utah putting up 68) Wins for the Clones don't come often in Boulder, but this would certainly be the year for ISU to win here.

I'm really impressed with what Rhoads is doing with your program. Last year was great for you guys, and the fact that you're on the edge of bowl eligibility again this season speaks volumes. Getting to a bowl game (probably hinges on the game Saturday),-- despite being the only other BigXII school besides CU to play a real OOC schedule -- would be very telling.

I've got to back up my college town. It is plenty of fun during the school year if you're a student and the people are generally really nice. I actually prefer it to Iowa City. If you have been to Iowa City 20+ times you'd realize it's the same story every weekend. Go to bars, fight some Affliction bros, talk to some stuck up fake girls from Chicago, shake your head at the hippies in the Ped Mall and pass out/maybe get lucky. You sound like you're not college-aged and if you aren't, Ames doesn't have much to offer (especially during the summer when students are gone) except if you're raising a family. But Ames is top notch when it comes to tailgating, campus atmosphere and house parties. I don't think many people regret going to school here.

I have never been to Boulder, I assume it would be an awesome time with great scenery but I've also heard it's full of hipsters which (like Eric Cartman) annoys the crap out of me. However I would love to make a trip to Boulder sometime as it would be a fun experience and probably has more attractive women.

As for the game, ISU always has trouble winning in Boulder even when we bring in an equal or better squad. I say ISU wins a close one 27-17, with the score not indicating how close it was because I think we score a late 4th quarter TD to seal the game.

No doubt. Ames is very nice city. Sure Boulder is a pretty place but it's also known as Socialist Republic of Boulder for a reason, yuk.

I think this game is almost impossible to predict. Not only are our kids' emotions going to be all over the place, but who knows what ISU's mental state will be after last week's near miss. Will they be fired up and pissed that they came so close to beating kNU, or will they be drained?

I say Buffs run, run, and run some more, ISU puts up a stiff fight, but they wear down late and the Cabral era begins with a 28-21 win.

You are nuts. ISU kicks the living sh!t out of sCUm and you finish your BIG 12 conference without a win and are winless in the PAC12 next year.

Pressures off of the Buffs and they come out with one of the better performances of the year.

CU 35
ISU 17

Iowa City greater than Ames? If you like Affliction t-shirts and spoiled kids from the Chicago suburbs, then absolutely. I'll take hard partying Iowans any day, though.

IC used to have a bunch of bars you could get in under 21, and they've all been shut down now. Ames has one of the best house party scenes you'll find, and ISU tailgating is 2nd to none. I'll wholeheartedly admit that the bar scene is nothing to brag about, but it's still a very good time.

Ames is nothing more than college town, however. I wouldn't want to live there as a 30 year old. It does not offer much at all to the post graduate crowd. Iowa City is a larger community and offers more for people over 25. However, if you're between the ages of 18-25, and it's a ****ing blast (Ames that is).

Spent most of my time there as a kid, visiting family and hated it (outside of the few perks city kids find amusing - namely hogs and all the critters out on the farms)....I went to the CU/ISU game a few years back (tornado game), but the weather was awful for tailgating and didn't stay very long (most of my family being on the Western edge of the state in some even smaller towns). Do have a few cousins that go there still, so may have to visit and check out the house party scene, as I do hear about them...Have visited a few other cousins at Iowa City and had a blast.

I will give you that Iowans know how to party, seeing that there isn't really much else to do but drink or golf (if warm out)....but having traveled to quite a few away CU games over the past 8 years, Ames isn't high on my list of most beautiful towns/campus' or uniqueness

I've been to both. Ames is a ****hole. Iowa City is 1/2 decent. Sorry.
