interesting comments from Hagan about wanting to run the ball....(in the context of the coaches meetings)
Second, Hawk is REALLY upbeat for a "dead man walking." Maybe he's come to the "Acceptance Stage" of grief?
Dan is laughing to the bank at CU's expense. Why shouldn't he be upbeat?
Hmm, based on a few posts above, I wonder if we have been conditioned in our culture to only see things in black and white/good vs. evil/etc. Dan Hawkins is evil and laughing all the way to the bank? I mean, I want him gone too, but I don't think the guy has had some diabolical scheme to swindle CU out of millions of dollars. He tried, he failed...that doesn't make the man the anti-christ. I'm sure he feels pretty terrible.
I remember the days when Coach Mac's call-in show was at the Harvest House. I made it a Wednesday night tradition to go to every one of them. Mac NEVER hid from any questions.
Or maybe he put on his cowboy hat and played some Jerry Jeff Walker - everytime he does an interview on one of the Austin sports stations all he talks about is Jerry Jeff Walker, swimming with great white sharks in South Africa or Van Morrison
He's a freakin nut case - guy probably thinks he will be here next year plus an extension.Dan is laughing to the bank at CU's expense. Why shouldn't he be upbeat?

Agree and he isn't just going to be depressed out in the open. He has no choice to be positive because he subscribes to the power of positive thinking. I think his behavior is exactly what it should be. Handle his last few weeks with as much positive behavior as he can. I don't want him to mope, scream, yell, or act like a jackass.
I think he is doing the best he can knowing he is gone....
Buddy Teevens got a job after his epic Stanford failure. D II will get a job too, but probably a D III school where his rah rah, sun will come up tomorrow, it's OK to get your asses kicked blather will be acceptable.I really don't think Hawkins ends up coaching anywhere else. At least not at anyplace worth a damn. Possibly a D-II school, but even there I think I would have some reservations if I'm an AD looking at making a hire. The guy is toxic. He took a program that played in the CCG the year before he got here and parlayed that to the bottom of the conference in five short years. That's quite a resume builder right there.
I've said it before, but I believe it bears repeating. There is no shame in trying and failing, the shame is in acting like an arrogant jackass while you do it. D II has been an arrogant jackass the whole way through. I don't hate him or wish him ill. He just isn't the man for the job and that has been apparent for the last calendar year. The admin. is the one screwing this up now. OTOH, at some point a person's honor ought to override their greed. He should have resigned by now...by not doing so, he is showing that he is all about Dan. Quite contrary to the supposed moral high ground he has been insulting us from for these past years. That is why people dislike him so.

First of all, you don't know me or what I do for a living or whether I have done what I am suggesting DH do. Second, I never said I hated him, nor do I hate him for not resigning. Under your theory no one would ever resign from a job or a post, but it happens all the time. Suggesting someone do it isn't dumb, acting like no one would ever do it when there are so many examples is, well, I'll do you the courtesy of not insulting you...I'll just say unrealistic. Not defending DH here, but in all honesty you and everybody else on this board would do the same thing. Stop being a hypocrite and calling for him to do something you would NEVER do. Humm let me resign and forfeit a lot of money or keep plugging and chugging while providing for my family and when it ends, it ends. He needs to go, but thinking he will resign and hating him because he doesn't is DUMB.
Failing at Stanford and failing at CU are two very different things. Success is more uncommon in Palo Alto than it is here. DIII schools still want to win, and they don't want to have a doucherocket running the team. I wouldn't hire the guy to coach a high school team. Danny will take his money, what there is of it, and go into broadcasting or some kind of consulting work.

True I don't know you and I was not insulting you, I was pointing out that your logic on DH's morality is flawed since the resounding consensus on resigning would most likely be very much the same. I can't think off the top of my head of any "like" situations where someone would resign and forfeit the kind of compensation he is owed. I'm sure we could find a politician or CEO type situation, but I would hardly consider those "like" situations since they usually take a lump some home or have another job waiting. In this case, DH would take nothing home unless he negotiated his resignation and I can't believe there is another job waiting for him anytime soon. The logic doesn't fit sorry, and I don't think his non-action in this case calls into question his morality or lack thereof.

Demotion.... OC at a non-BCS school under a friend in the coaching circles.....
He could get a job with the NY Jets with Bill Callahan. What friends does this guy have in coaching circles? Serious question. I have no idea. I would tend to think the guy is nuclear right now. Nobody wants anything to do with him and his zen bullshat.
OTOH, Neuhisel keeps getting hired, so maybe I'm off base here.
