First off, I am not at all surprised nor disappointed that the buffs are three and two. Actually, from a big picture point of view, that's about where I think most fans expected them to be at this point in the season.

Secondly, Texas is a very good team. They were physical mismatches all over the field. The buffs have a long way to go before they are on an even talent level with Texas. The same could be said for Florida State.

Thirdly, although the buffs have some very difficult games ahead of them, with the exception of Missouri, the rest of their opponents do not have an overwhelming athletic edge.

Fourthly, the defense has, and continues to play quite well. Of course there are some weaknesses, but overall, as a unit they have performed quite well. I expect this to continue.

Fifthly, as much as I hate to say it, I think it is quite clear that we have seen the best Cody has to offer. His limitations are becoming more apparent each game as we see the defensive coordinators scheming against the buffs offense. Rarely do you see the long pass challenging the middle of the field, Cody is not a threat to run out of the spread, and the defense now only has about 25 yards of field to defend when he is at QB. While I'm no fan of the spread, it can work if the quarterback can run. The base play where they running back crosses in front of the quarterback to take the handoff is very effective, IF, the quarterback pulls the ball and runs that little quarterback counter around the weak side of the play. Right now the buffs simply have no such threat, and the linebackers scrape and fill like nobody's business.

Sixth, I see no reason why Ballenger should not be getting additional reps in practice and one or two series in game so that we can begin to see what he can do. Although the second-team Texas defense was his opposition, it is clear that Ballenger has a much stronger arm and is definitely more mobile. His running skills are much better suited to a spread than Cody's. I do not see any reason not to begin developing him as he has a much greater upside.

Seventh, special teams were abysmal. I simply cannot even begin to fathom what Josh Smith was thinking on that early kickoff return. And our kicker's nickname is money; might be better changed to peso.

KU is very beatable and go buffs. That is all.

Special teams has been a joke.

If you are a kicker, and are going to wear bright gold shoes onto the field you better make everything!

Josh Smith getting pounded just standing at the goal line, Josh having the ball bounce off his head against FSU. Josh fielding punts inside his own 5. I understand that he ran one back against CSewe, but the 6 points he scored has been offset by other very bad plays.

I thought the D played very well in the first half. I thought the TX TD was past the line, but did not have a good angle at the game. Still they only gave up 14. They were on the field a very long time in the game.

Missed tackles the second half killed them.

Looking ahead to the rest of the schedule, I don't know if CU has four more wins. Especially if you look at how they played the last two weeks.

5 games into the season and I don't see anything consistent out of our offense. At this point I don't see any reason to not make a change at QB.

I agree on all accounts. Biggest disappointment this year has to be all of the mental errors this team seems to be making. Also, have to keep reminding myself that this is still a verrrrrry young team, however, I am still expecting to see a break out game this year. Like many others I am hanging my hopes on Ballenger leading us in that breakout game now.

I think a lot of the mental errors are because we are such a young team. Several on here pointed out before the season that would be the case. I also expect to see a breakout game this year but think it will definitely have to come against one of the few have nots on the schedule.
