Thought I'd start this thread in case anyone sees any news regarding the young men and women who have officially become Buffs during the early signing period that starts tomorrow (November 12[SUP]th[/SUP]) and goes through the 19th. I will also update with anything (articles, photos, tweets, etc.) I see.
Want to give best wishes in advance to all the Olympic Sport athletes (and basketball players I’m sure we’ll hear about in that sport’s recruiting forum tomorrow) signing to join the Buffs- hope all goes well athletically, academically and socially for them during their time in Boulder!
Information on individual athletes who we already knew had given verbal commitments to the Buffs, both for 2015 and later years, is already contained in this thread- http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/101643-Recruiting-News-Olympic-Sports . We/ I will also update that thread with signing info as we hear about it.
Other things I can think of regarding this-
1) As noted in other threads, the one Olympic sport we won't hear about during this early signing period is soccer, which like football only has one signing period, which in soccer's case goes from February 4th (same first day as football) through August 1st.
2) Of course, this is only the early signing period. Some athletes may also wait until the regular signing period that goes from April 15, 2015 to August 1, 2015 to formally commit.
3) From reading a volleyball blog, it sounds like walk-ons can’t be formally announced until they have been formally accepted to the university and have made their admissions deposit, so we probably won’t hear about any of those athletes tomorrow or in the near future. (Often, those athletes can’t be announced until late spring, and in some case aren’t known until formal rosters are posted next school year before the sports start their seasons.) I’m assuming that rule applies to all sports and not just volleyball. Note- The only walk-ons we might hear about is the rare student- athlete or two who is able to and chooses to graduate from high school a semester early (next month) and so can start college this coming January.
