HAMBURG, Germany — University of Colorado sophomore-to-be Yannik Paul shot a final round 67, taking the lead with two holes remaining and went on to with the 2014 German International Amateur Championship here Sunday.
Paul entered the final round tied with Italy’s Renato Paratore at 13-under par, with four others two strokes back at 11-under. Both opened the day with birdies on No. 1, but Paratore came back with another on No. 2 to take a 1-stroke lead; both bogeyed No. 3, Paul’s only one of the day. He held that advantage until the eighth hole, when Paul pulled even with a birdie.
Paul scored a birdie on No. 11 to take his first lead of the day, and both players birdied No. 12. Paratore pulled even with a birdie on No. 15, but fell one back again after scoring a bogey on 16. Paul then sealed the win with a birdie on No. 18, finishing with an 18-under par total of 270.
