I was at the extreme other end and was yelling about it. Since they did not call it I just assumed I was wrong about the rule. Overall I felt the officials were out of position and asleep half the time.
Bobby Bowden went off at half time. "I watch all the games and kids are always diving and fliping into the endzone and not gettin' called for it. Our kid does it and we get a penalty. What a bunch of crap!"
I also seem to remember a player in the spring game getting flagged for it. Josh Smith maybe. Anyway, Hawk was none to happy with whoever it was.
Including on the Buff touchdowns.......the delayed signals were horrible, and the multiple missed holding calls were a joke (ask George H, who rightfully argued his point for most of the game.....).
I and others around me agree with you.
The broadcast said they were WAC officials.
i was a little pissed that they didnt call an excessive celebration for the flip into the endzone...but not as pissed as i was at the back-to-back crappy spots that gave bama a first down in Q4 that kept their drive alive...
I thought they were letting that shi8 slide because it was post season meebee not
Those were the two most pathetic spots I've ever seen. And they couldn't have come at a worse time, either. The refs gave Alabama three yards on that set of downs. issed3:
It's a dumb rule. You should be allowed to do that. Your not delaying the game or detracting imho.
Doing the antics type stuff Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens does delays the game and should warrant a penalty.
I think they meant, "WHACK" officials!:smile2:
Actually, the officials weren't half as bad as the ESPN commentators...talk about WHACK!
I think there was an uncalled facemask too.
I totally agree, which is why I didn't have a problem with them not calling a penalty on it.
well i thought the officating was really poor last night. it shows that the WAC refs should NOT ref a BCS Confernce game. period
There it is again. USC punk flips into the end zone. Fifteen Yard penalty. Man, I'm still pissed at the Indy Bowl officials!
Yea, they had to call that one. I thought the one later in the game on the USC TE was kind of cheap, although that one was more of a taunt since he was pointing at the Illini defensive player.
Taunting penalties I can see, but celebration penalties are ridiculous unless the celebration is totally over the top.
the back to back noncalls on flagrant holding in the 1st q convinced me that the officials were not as committed to calling a fair a game as they could be.
the flip was rather ridiculous.
ive seen the flip called sometimes and sometimes it not called.... i guess it just depends on the refs... also, Colorado pushed off a couple of times, and i think they were on touchdowns... i saw tons of missed holding calls, but I thought they were fairly consistant (consistantly bad)
Someone always makes a post like this in each and every game thread.
Get it right old man. It's whipper snapper. :smile2:
Cheating is part of the game.
