Probably pointless since Hawk seems to think Espy is Devin Hester but who do we have that can do it? Guys that come to mind with me are Jefferson, Lockridge, Scott(maybe), Polk, Moyd, McKnight(i know, not fast), and few others. Im not at practice so I dont know if these guys are capable? Anybody in the know care to shed some light?

The only thing that Espy has shown he's good at is catching and holding on to the ball consistently. Maybe nobody else can do that on this team, but I miss the days of looking forward to punt returns with Jeff Cambell and Ben Kelly who could take it to the house more often than not. Right now, I just hope he doesn't get tackled farther downfield.

I would love to see Moyd. The kid deserves a shot and has great speed.

Should be punt catch candidates. That seems to be the only consideration.

I'd add Anthony Wright to the list. Good speed, good hands, and was a RB in high school.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if "Quick" Hildreth was the best PR on the team but they want to redshirt him this year.

Moyd is interesting to me cause we all know he can run. I dont know what kind of hands he has but i remember them throwing him the ball against Florida State last year. That should been 6. Catching punts and catching passes are two different things though.

Returning punts has a lot more to do catching the punt and getting to the ball than speed. It is really different than returning kicks. Do not overlook possession punt returners. The word that has come out of camp (not from coaches) is that:

Lockridge stuggles to catch them. Speedy is even more shaky. Scott is better but still inconsistent. You don't really get much more with McKnight. Moyd and Polk are interesting choices. Haven't heard much about either but they have tried the others above.

If Lockridge can't catch then I'd love to see Polk back there.

Andre Simmons returned a few punts at Independence CC.

I concur. Hildreth is going to be special.

This is a good point here. Considering he's deemed not as far along as McKnight, Simas, Jefferson and Espy at WR, maybe we can get him in the game this way.

We do want to make sure of the catch though - Espy does have stickem for hands.

I'm fine with him fair catching every punt that comes his way. We haven't had any punts cost us a game. No turnovers, either. I'm not usually a "play it safe" kind of guy, but in this case, I think we're doing the right thing. Let the offense score.

not to mention the block in the back/clipping ect penalties that seem to come with about 75% of CU's punt returns.
