Unfortunately I won't be able to see this match, but hopefully they can get their first win of the season

Right now, not 100% sure, but I hope to be at the match, which usually means I don't give too many updates (especially when trying to read my phone screen in the bright sunlight).

Anyway, re the opposition, looks like CC won their 1st match 1-0 over Northern Colorado Friday (article from their website for more details- http://cctigers.com/news/2015/8/21/WSOC_0821154433.aspx?path=WSOC).

More about the Tigers from the cubuffs.com article previewing this weekend (already linked to in an earlier thread- http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=600&ATCLID=210281390):
    "
COLORADO VS. COLORADO COLLEGE: The Buffaloes are 7-2-1 all-time against the Tigers and are 4-1 when hosting Colorado College.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Colorado College returns 13 letterwinners and six starters from its 2014 roster. Last season, the Tigers posted a 12-5-4 overall record. Midfielder Sarah Schweiss is back for her senior year after leading the team with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists last season. Colorado College averaged 1.90 goals per game and its defense shut out seven opponents in 2014.

Solid match for the Buffs with 3 great goals started with great passes and ending with assertive blasts (or in one case a header) into the net.

    Way to go Buffs!

Video highlights for the match (shown while junior Brie Hooks is interviewed in the audio portion) now available at http://www.cubuffs.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?id=4315694 .

Definitely recommend folks AT ALL interested check out the 1 minute and 47 second of highlights, as I'd say all the passes setting up the goals, and the resulting shots themselves, were ALL 1st class, and gave the CC goaltender little to no chance to save ANY of them.
(I'm often amazed at the precision of some of the passing- as can be seen on the highlight, it looks to me like the pass by sophomore Joss Orejel to assist on the 3rd goal must have traveled 40-50 yards in the air over all the defenders and hit Ms. Hooks IN STRIDE on one bounce right to her foot for a likewise perfectly placed one timer strike across the goal mouth into the lower left side corner of the net.)

    Keep it up Buffs!

(The next match is probably the toughest of the non-conference schedule as the Buffs go to Provo to face BYU, who may have vengeance on their mind after the Buffs knocked them out of the NCAA tourney the last two years (last year in a FRIGID Boulder). BYU remains a tough squad this year, ranked #19 in the preseason coaches poll, and already have beaten 2 Pac12 teams this young season, Arizona in an exhibition last week, and shut out preseason #18 ranked Cal 2-0 in their 1st official match a couple days ago in Hawaii. (Be interesting to see how the Cougars do against presumed Pac 12 "Top dog" Stanford when they play them tomorrow.))

My first mach in person in over a year. My gut reaction - this team has the most potent attack of any Buff team in years. Aztec mentions the passing, it was very good in the final third of the field. Repeatedly the Buffs were able to use diagonal passes to find open teammates and they in tern were able to take advantage by either getting off a solid shot or in turn finding a teammate.

When I was asked by my wife about the match I couldn't help but rave about freshman Sarah Kinzner (Calgary, Alberta). CU hasn't had a player with her vision and passing ability since Fran Munnelly. She really is something special and makes the team much, much better in the attack.

    More thoughts later.
