COLORADO VS. OREGON: The Buffs and Ducks have met three prior times, twice in the Pac-12. The Buffs are still searching for their first win over the Ducks, having fallen at home in 2009 and 2011. Last season, CU tied Oregon in a scoreless double-overtime battle in Eugene. The Ducks narrowly outshot the Buffs 16-13, but CU was more on target, taking seven shots on goal to Oregon’s four. Madison Krauser, Hayley Hughes and Anne Stuller were the only Buffs to take shots, each taking at least four apiece in the tie.
SCOUTING THE DUCKS: Under first year head coach Kat Mertz, the Ducks have posted a 2-4-3 record. Oregon’s wins both came at home early in the season against Portland State (in the season opener) and against Texas (on Sept. 1). The Ducks have impressed against ranked opponents, falling 2-1 in overtime to No. 22 Portland and pushing No. 6 BYU to a scoreless double-overtime battle. The Ducks’ three most recent outings have all been ties: 0-0 draws against BYU and Washington State and a 1-1 tie against USF. Oregon averages 13.8 shots per game, while allowing 13.3. The Ducks have scored just nine goals this season (the second least in the conference), with junior Bri Pugh and junior Shaylee Miner leading the way with two goals and one assist apiece.
