For obvious reasons, lots of things to be angry at with our coaching staff these days, but thought I'd put a few good vibes out there.
Lots of discussion on Big Al's day vs. Hawaii and also honoring of our 1990 National Champs, helps us to remember that we've got some great tradition within this program!
However, not much has been said recently on the three football players going into the Athletic HOF this year (to be honored at the ISU game). Obviously, we all know EB. Most of us remember Cliff Branch. But I did a little research on the third, Bob Stransky, CU All-American, one of the heroes of CU's very first bowl win (1957 Orange), CU All-Century team member, and member of the original Denver Broncos in 1960.
Here's an interesting link on the 1957 Orange Bowl recap:

Reading that, look at this quote from Clemson's coach:
"The Buffaloes narrowly missed a fourth touchdown and went into the locker room with a 20-0 cushion. An inspiring speech by Clemson head coach Frank Howard, in which he threatened to resign if he didn't get a better effort from his team, followed."
(What if we had a coach that threatened to resign based on poor efforts?!?!)
But back to Stransky: While an all-american at running back in '57, he was also a defensive back stalwart, intercepting two passes in that Orange Bowl, including the game saver at the CU 17 with under three minutes to play.
Here's some (hard to see) highlights from that game:

Anyway, we've got a lot of damn fine tradition around here, so I want to make sure we remember those that paved the way prior to the Mac years and the 1990 team. Stransky is one of those, and he'll be honored this year.
I am DAMN proud of Stransky and the other HOFers and this program! Oh yeah, I must admit I am personally biased, Bob Stransky is my uncle. :smile2:
