Steur Wins Gold Singles Draw At CU Invitational

BOULDER – University of Colorado senior Julyette Steur cruised to a straight set win Sunday morning to capture the Gold Singles Bracket title on the final day of the six-team CU Invitational at the South Campus Courts.

Steur dominated the first set, breaking her opponent’s serve to start the match and would break twice more en route to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Utah’s Sarah Richter 6-0, 6-2. In the second set, Steur kept her momentum going, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Richter would hold her next two service games, while Steur held hers for the 6-2 win.

Steur’s three straight wins without dropping a set to start the fall season gives her 46 career wins, moving into 35th place on the all-time singles list.
