Here's an interesting scenario:
The Big 12 South decides to disband the Big 12 and re-form the SWC.
Here was the old SWC:
1. Texas
2. Texas A&M
3. Texas Tech
4. Texas Christian
5. Houston
6. Southern Methodist
7. Baylor
8. Rice
9. Arkansas
They couldn't get Arkansas, but they can get Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. So:
9. Oklahoma
10. Oklahoma State
The 2 Kansas Schools border Oklahoma and have been good citizens that haven't looked elsewhere:
11. Kansas
12. Kansas State
Texas gets its television network, it gets to write the new conference bylaws however it wishes, any conference with OU and UT will not have to worry about whether it's got major bowl and BCS tie-ins, the Texas Legislature is ecstatic, and the money should be there.
(Saw this speculated on in a couple places and ran with it. Thoughts? Could you see it happening?)
Edit: Fixed this OP to add Rice to the SWC list. That was a 9-team conference through 1991 when Arkansas left.
