I am seeing some folks talking about how we don't have the talent to compete... We may not be up there with Texas and USC, but we have tons of talent on this team and there is no reason why we cant play at a top 25 level.

This team I am seeing tonight is VERY unmotivated. They have mailed it in and given up on this coach. They are not playing as a team, they are making dumb penalties and blowing their assignments. What we are seeing is a team that is totally lost and has no confidence in each other. They need a new face and a new voice talking to them.

We obviously have the talent to compete with Toledo so clearly it is the motivation and desire to be a team and win games.

    Bingo!

It doesn't help that Hawk is not playign our most talented players. It doesn't help that they can't coach these kids to be in the right position and run the right routes. It doesn't help that Cody overthrows 3 out of every 4 passes.

We have the talent to be a top 25 team. This staff is clueless!

 I need to join you and Unleash for a :canabis: party..

Toledo has better players than Colorado.. I know that sounds crazy but anybody who wants to be objective can see it pretty easily that we are severely undermanned out there.

Brother... I want to be with you on this one but I'm with Jimmy. Where is it? Rivals stars? Meaningless. LaDanian Tomlinson was a 3 star coming out of highschool. Talent is what it is. These guys look slow, soft, and weak. I LOATHE saying this but it's true. Hawk is f*cking clown shoes as a gameday coach and as a recruiter.

Bingo.. I'm not trying to excuse Hawk for it because its on him.. I'm just stating the level of talent that people think we are getting in recruiting isn't matching what I see on the field..

We have a bunch of players recruited in the past three years who were recruited hard by schools like NU, Texas, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State, etc. If we lack talent then all these schools were wrong on the talent level of the players.

We do have some positions where we are still thin and slow, we have a bunch of positions were we are painfully young. That said the talent we have is much better than Toledo 54, CU 24 or getting dominated by CSU. It is the coaching, it is who gets played and how, it is a lack of motivation and a lack of organization and a cohesive plan that the players understand and buy into.

We got about 12 guys that were offered by a lot of big time schools.. Law of averages says about half of the elite guys will become very good or elite players in college which leaves the other half being average or below..

You check some of these other guys we recruited like the 3-stars we have and there offers are Wyoming, CSU, KjSU and teams like that..

Those same guys who were offered by Wyo, CSU, etc were also offered by other Big XII teams, PAC 10, etc. Lots of three star guys play for top 20 schools. The depth of the talent is not there because we have virtually no significant Jr. or Sr. class but talent is there, it is just not being used.

    Perhaps. We sure looked slow.

Hats off to McKnight and Scott though. Those two played very well.

I believe it's there, it's just sitting on the bench in favor of walk-ons. If our WR coach  was halfway decent we'd have our talent on the field, instead we have 3 walk-ons playing the majority of the game. That being said our talent on the OL is on the field and they're playing like garbage.

yep, thats what I'm trying to say.

We have 5 talented WR's over 6'3 on the bench and we are playing 5'10 walk ons.

I do think the O-line played better tonight than against CSU.

5' 8" walkons but yeah your point holds. Hawk is calling the shots. There must be a reason all the 'talent' is sitting on the bench.

Hawk has the same problem that plagues a lot of coaches. He was a marginal talent who made his way based on effort and hard work. He identifies with those guys who practice and play like he did and has a place in his heart for them. At the same time he resents the guys who have the natural talent to "make it look easy." The trouble is all the effort in the world doesn't get you there when the guy you are lining up against is faster and better without having to push it to the limit.

He also doesn't understand that just because somebody makes it look easy doesn't mean that they aren't working hard. Scott is a perfect example. He has had his problems but he is such a pure natural athlete that he can do things without looking like he is trying that other guys can't do at any speed.

Think with your brains and not your hearts...this team has well below average talent. Friggin Toledo has more talent at WR, QB and DB. These players suck. Yes, its harsh but so is life. These kids are slow and lack any real fundamentals. They arent good.

Saying we have top 25 talent is just delusional and revisionist history.

Only ONE of our last 5 recruiting classes has had a top 25 ranking. That means as a team, we don't have top 25 talent.

I do agree that the team is mailing it in, at this point.

I think talent is the wrong word. Potential is a better word for what we have. We may not have had top 25 classes, but we have also had some smaller classes. It's just my opinion, but we have enough talent that we should be able to compete with Toledo

    Bingo..

Some players have some potential to be very good players. But there's just way too many players on our roster right now that aren't Big 12 caliber of players.

And the ones that have potential are mostly underclassmen with limited college football experience.
