I sure hope this is not going on at NU or CU.

Of course it's going on at CU and NU. The NYT did a very similar piece on the recruiting of Darrell Scott last year.
The NYT's editorial decission to embed reporters with highly prized recruits continues to deliver dirty laundry, with UT being common denominator. The acquisations this time around?
- Mack Brown's flat screen TV's and boasts that his home is more posh than that of Stoops
- Parties in Dallas for recruits with booze, drugs and girls gone wild
- Ploys to drive wedges between parents and recruits
- Poor coach to player ratios in the weight room.
While OU wears the white hat.
- Stoops in house visit includes ferrying food to the dinner table and chuckling with Grandma while watching Beauty Shop
- Daily e-mails with mom persistently underscoring coach as role model.
Methinks the NYT reporting is less than fair and balanced, opting to bash the 'horns at every turn.

I thought the article was poorly written. And yes, it happens everywhere.
Texass is all showboat and full of themselves and finally a year after eyes are opening. What does the NCAA do about there and obvious USC actions? Nothing for damn sure same would apply with USC and Notre Lame. The examples will always be the middlin teams or nobody's. Typical regard always to all NCAA cash cow teams in the sports they are powers in. Like the Never has been the Case at Michigan or Ohio State etc. The facade continues and always will.
I just read the article. If half of it is true, then appalling doesn't describe how anyone should feel. Appalled at USC, UT, OU, and LSU. Appalled at the kid and his mother. Appalled at the NCAA for letting this **** go unpunished. That is if half this stuff is true.
Is it the competition that bothers you Skiddy?
Two sides to every story. You might want to read the rebuttal on Orangebloods.com.
I doubt the kid and his family will accept the offer extended...
The NCAA was created to prevent abuses.
Does this go for DS and mom too?
No. My recollection is that she handled herself with class. But then, I'd have to go back and re-look at the articles, since I have short term memory problems.
This story just doesn't seem to add up on a lot of levels.
The only way to put a dent in this crap is to stop allowing campus visits, as if that would ever happen. Seems like Bitsy tried something of the sort only to become a laughing stock of the evil masses.
Also, if the OU president is gettiung involved in football recruiting to the extent this article claims, well, that says a lot about OU's priorities as a University. Higher education is certainly not at the top of the list. My dad, an OU grad, would be disgusted.

If you read Texass message boards any player that ever went to another school was bought, Mack Brown is a Saint, etc.
Speaking of Texass message boards, check this out.....yup.
this "ethos" is very much a part of Texas fans' self-identification and it goes back all the way to the SWC where (in their minds) everyone else cheated to keep up with Texas. they believe they are clean and everyone else is dirty. If a kid leaves the state of Texas, he's been bought. plain and simple.

Facts are not required with the Orangebloods......Mr. Ketchum's response to the NYT's article is oddly similar to my response regarding the Austin Statesman's (?) accusations regarding Darrell Scott's mother.
Weren't we promised facts to back up those accusations?
