I posted this in another thread, but I wanted to start a new thread about this.

Is anyone else getting pissed off about how the AD keeps blaming **** on us, the people who pay to keep the lights on? Whether it's Hawkins talking about places like Allbuffs being full of 'Internet Scum', Hawkins telling us that 'real fans wear Black and Gold', or the way the AD is trying to spin the Blue-Out into an anti-player movement, I've just about had it with these clowns.

They seem to miss the fact that the people who show up in blue, or talk about the Buffs on the internet are also the same ones who donate money, buy season tickets and show up every week to home games.

I don't get why they feel the need to act the way they do. There is no need to demonize the fans to improve the product on the field.

They want it both ways. They want a passionate, devoted fan base who sits quietly on their hands when the product on the field sucks eggs. It's OK to yell and scream so long as all that yelling and screaming is filled with glorious tributes to their coaching supremecy. They aren't interested in hearing how pissed off we are that we can't win a freaking road game or give up 8 sacks in a game or can't get a running game going or give up 400 yards through the air or are horrible on special teams.

Only good stuff, if you please. Otherwise, you're a bad fan. Everybody knows that. Hell, just look at Nebraska and how classy, refined, and well behaved they are when they're losing. :wow:

I'm pretty happy CU won Sat. But I am trying to keep it in perspective. It was a one point win over a very pedestrian aTm team. Talented, but pedestrian.

I was lucky to get the tickets I had, but oftentimes when I take the whole family it is a $300+ excursion. Some comments under DH and to a lesser degree Bohn, make me feel like I am tolerated, and I should be grateful for the opportunity to pay through the nose to watch the Buffs perform poorly. Oh, and I shouldn't say a word about the dreadful overall performance of the team under DH's leadership.

I am a Buff fan and I'll be one long after DH and Bohn are gone, but it is getting very difficult to justify the expenditure anymore. Forutnately the decision this week was easy, Cliff hooked me up with tickets and I give him props here.

Sacky, that's exactly how I see it, too. They want us to be good little Stepford Fans and dutifully cheer on the good without mentioning (or even noticing) the bad.

Doesn't work that way, as Bohn is about to find out come season ticket renewal time if Hawk is still the coach.

Im guessing they will have a come to jesus moment here. The only way I see things not going south for them is if CU wins the remainder of the slate.

I doubt CU will win out. I also think you might see CH on the road. Just a hunch.

And here's where it gets interesting. They are so enamored of insulting the people who showed up wearing blue that they forgot to notice the 10,000 or so people who showed up dressed as empty seats. It's a lot easier to point to the folks in blue and mark them as the enemy than it is to look at what they're doing and recognize that they're crapping the bed.

It's mindboggling that anyone who coaches for a living would talk to fans like an autocratic coach.

And I have no idea how anyone working in a University could possibly believe they are smarter than anyone else.

Why on earth would the CUAD take a different tone with the alumni and fans than they would take with the student's themselves?

The message is just going to come out at the lowest common denominator because you can't controdict yourselves infront of the kids. Any University is adept at being patronizing because that's a key skillset that keeps the loonies from running the asylum.

The CUAD's desire and tactics are to ensure the blue out dies a quiet death. The Internet is a new-media challenge that Plati and the CUAD haven't figured out, let alone leverage for mutual benefit.

Hawk is still the coach now. Every ticket that you give money to the AD for since the Toledo loss is just telling them that you want Hawk to stay and continue losing. If you already bought tix before that, then that is different, but if you really want to voice your opinion so that the AD hears it, the only thing you can do is not give them money. After all, this is what you plan on doing next year, why wait?

You have to pay for season tickets several months before the season begins. They've had my money since April or so.

They need on some level to understand, probably like Bohn does, that they are making a product and they are selling that product to their loyal customers (in a crappy economy no less). Those customers have a right to expect a certain level of quality and to complain about it when it is substandard or take their money off the table. If something as trivial as wearing blue shirts agitates them then wait until season ticket holders cancel en masse. Not everyone in that stadium is an alum afterall and CU has never had a waiting list level of demand.

Reading this makes me believe their view is "This is our product. Your lucky we let you pay to see it. What's wrong with your loyalty?"

Their stupidest move was to actually acknowledge any of this. Acknowledgement keeps the issue alive and if they lose coyote ugly again a Blue Out will be back.

You've made this arguement before. You must be an engineer, because it's very linear thinking.

The reality is that CU does not opperate in a vacuum. The "boycott" approach is really throwing the baby out with the bathwater. By withholding funds, you are putting CU's title 9 and Big 12 status in jeopardy as we are opperating at the bare minimum as it stands right now.

By starving the CUAD, we might not only get rid of Hawkins, but also make headlines for digging a hole the university can't climb out of, and the chances of landing a future coach would become moot.

    Carry on.

Yeah-- if you really hate the coachs that much. Don't pay to have them stick around. I think the blue-shirt wearing fiasco was very hypocritical of the message they were trying to send.

Well I stand corrected.. You make a great point. Does anyone know.. are there any other schools doing this to their programs? You don't see Oklahoma or Notre Dame doing this? I think any protest against the team is bad for the players, whether the intention was to directly point them out or not.

So, does allbuffs renew our season tickets next year? That could be an interesting debate.

And what message do you think they were trying to send?

    A) Fire Hawk
    B) This team is performing at the level of the early 80's CU Buffs?
    C) I'm "><" THIS close to not being here
    D) I love the Buffs and choose to be here in support of the athletes, however it's disrespectful to Black and Gold to deliver an unpresidented fourth consecutive losing season
    E) The fans disrespect the players.

This confusion over what the Blue Out really means is purely political, with each side voicing opinions to fit different agendas.

Except for the folks who actually participated. They tell a remarkably consistent story about their reasoning.

Correct. The actual reason was very clear and concise. The only confusion seems to be coming from those who don't like the message...

I think the message was clear that Hawk is not doing well as a coach. I understand that. But what bothers me is that this begins to affect the players, which prompts them to say that the fans are not respecting them as players. If the message was to get rid of Hawk..then make that VERY obvious. From what I saw, it just looked like a bunch of people wearing blue shirts. That's the problem with protests, the organizers never have enough publicity, and the people it intends to help, actually get hurt.

Did the protest actually do anything? Did it get Hawk fired? No. Did it provide more publicity for firing Hawk. Kind of. But, the whole nation is already against him. If you really want to protest him, carry signs and walk around outside of Folsom, or dont show up to his press conferences/radio shows.

Your point is made. The facebook invite specifically said this wasn't about the players. The interviews in the press underscored that point.

The fact is that the team is now 3-6. If they don't win another game, they WILL go down as one of the worst teams in CU history, and the first to string together four consequtive losing seasons in 120 years of football. Whether or not the players like that, it would still remain a cold hard fact.

As it is, the players have exactly 12 quarters of football to be played, and have every opportunity to win their way out of the CU blues.

Fans are already starting to starve the AD. Missouri was 45000 and A&M was 47000. Two years ago there were 51000 for Missouri. As someone pointed out - CU should worry more about the empty seats than the fans wearing blue.

I will seriously consider not renewing my tickets if Hawkins is still the HC for the reason that I am starting to feel more and more disenfranchised from the CUAD. Why should I continue when I don't enjoy the product on the field and I don't feel like I am welcome as a fan since I don't buy into what they are trying to spin.

And here in lies the rub; the AD are criticizing a grass roots initiative that really didn't cost them anything in the end. By telling us we are disloyal (see un American) for expressing our view they might end up paying at the box office instead of enduring a few games with blue t-shirts in the stands.

    Dumb.

Not by one coach. Even Fairbanks only had three straight losing seasons.

If the Buffs don't win their remaining games AND a bowl game, Hawk will be the only coach in CU history to have four losing seasons in a row.

I'm feeling the exact same way.

BTW, I have never felt as unwelcome as a fan as I have this season.

    And deservedly so.

But please, don't make the mistake of trying to compare CU football to OU football. The two are really night and day in their differences.
