Hawk seemed a bit more charged up today. Only a few questions... He stated he couldn't comment on recruiting other than they were in on some good guys and it's going well.

he was asked if he could comment on help they could expect next year from this year's invisible ones (redshirts and ineligibles). He stated that Polk had Shoulder surgery this week and is out for the year, but that he was going to be a good one. He mentioned Blackmon, Wallace, Pericek, Majors among a few others.

He then stated that Simas was tearing up their defense in practice at WR and he wants to go after him with a baseball bat because we need him so badly. He made it clear that Simas is a playmaker and we need to get him on the field next year.

He also mentioned Tau at tackle and Vaimunga at special teams and defense as guys who would help contribute.

I remember watching Simas in spring and fall practices and wow is all I can say. I dont want to make the comparison yet because I havent seen him in a game but let me just say, the guy I would compare him to would be Crabtree. Not super fast, great hands and tall reciever.

Academics. This AFTER his red-shirt year. He had an entire year of not playing to get his classes together, and still failed to make the grade.

I hold out hope he'll make it for next year, but I wouldn't be depending on him. :sad1:

When the La-La land article came out about him and his doodling last spring, I got very worried about him passing mustard in his classes. Hopefully he's got his **** together now.

I think that next year we are going to start seeing the recuiting work that this staff has done. Lets assume that we dont' get hit by every lightning bolt that comes down from the heavens and everyone is eligible and healthy.
I'm starting to like what Hawk is doing on offense - Hansen, Scott, Polk, Speedy, Lockridge, J-Fly, Simas, Blackmon, McNight, Geer, Deehan, Wallace, Solder, Iltis, (center ?), MTM, Miller. Some backup lineman that have some quality gametime experience Let's hope for a couple of solid receivers that can play right away.
Defensive is going to be interesting in that there will be some new faces and a few that got some early playing time. Obi, Goree, Cunningham, Major, Pericek, Kotoa, Rippy, Hicks, getting Burney back.
If nothing else I'm excited to finally start seeing some of the bigger name recuits showing there stuff.

Regarding Polk I have him in one of my classes and he hasn't been there all week when he has previously attended nearly every class. Looks like the surgery is the real deal unfortunately

Hawk also mentioned that Goodman would do the kicking. There was also a "statement" rather than a question from the audience to refrain from booing.

Unfortunately if CU gets blown out, there will be some boos coming from the east side of the stadium.

I like Hawk, but honestly, these coaches and AD's kill me sometimes. Coaches in the big time (read that BCS conferences) get paid movie star money. But they get pissy if anybody demands results. Face it, coaches are hired to win. Add to that the prices of tickets and you are going to get a lot of demanding folk. You can't have it both ways. If you want disinterested voyeurs, go coach in the little leagues. If you charge pro level ticket prices, command top dollar for your coaching services, expect a fair segment of your customers/fans to actually demand a commensurate performance, and expect them to let you know when the paying customer doesn't think you are measuring up. I have sympathy for the players since they aren't getting in on the gravy. But then again, they also need to realize D1 CFB is big time sports and it isn't always going to be a bed of roses....

A free (not saying they don't work their a$$es off) $80-100K education isn't getting in on the gravy. I would take that gravy any day.

What I always find mildly annoying is some of the parents of the players who sit in our section. I've been going to these games for over 30 years. My folks have owned the same seats for over 20 years. We've seen really good football and really bad football and we know the difference. But when we dare to question the peformance on the field, we "don't know what the hell we're talking about".

Oh please, just because your son plays for the Buffs doesn't make you a better, more knowledgable fan than I am. I'll still be here, in these seats, screaming my bloody head off, 10 years after your son is long gone. Will YOU be here, too? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Well said sackman...didn't know you were that old..**** so am I ....we know the differnece between good football and bad football.....this is not good football and I think WE have a right to express that. I bleed black and gold...and am proud to say I will till the day I leave this earth. Who else will....really
