LOS ANGELES – The University of Colorado lacrosse team fell short here Friday afternoon as the USC Trojans topped the Buffaloes, 12-9, at McAlister Field.
The Trojans paired a 5-0 run in the second half with some tight defense to clinch the win. The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-leaders heading into the game improve to 9-3 overall and remain unbeaten in league play at 5-0.
Colorado has dropped two in a row for the first time this season, and fall to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in MPSF.
“I thought we came out in the first half playing a little slow and a little scared,” said Colorado head coach Ann Elliott. “In the second half, it was little bit of runs both ways and then USC played well down the stretch. They were able to take advantage of their opportunities and we had trouble with that. We made some mistakes turning the ball over and it cost us.”
