Viska and Heisman. What would it take to let them meet?

If he has that kind of statistical season, it's likely that CU would have two Heisman candidates as Montez's numbers would also be ridiculous. In that scenario, Montez would probably be the favorite over Viska

I remember when Beano Cook picked Kijana Carter over Rahsaan for the Heisman, the year he won it. It wasn't surprising, he thought Notre Dame or Penn State should win the national title yearly.

The Trophy is going to go to somebody who gets a lot of ESPN time. With the Buffs on the PAC12N that isn't going to happen enough.

LOL @ the guys saying "anymore" when talking about the Heisman being a popularity contest between QBs on nationally contending teams. Newsflash: it's always been this way. Gino Torretta and Chris Weinke have Heismans, FFS.

The only way it goes another way is when there is a player whose stats/play is too crazy to ignore, and the QB play among the top teams isn't enough to eclipse that. Even then, a non-QB has to be on a nationally contending team (ie, Rashaan, Trent Richardson, Charles Woodson) or a guy from a non-nationally contending team has to be a QB (ie. Andre Ware).

If those weren't the unofficial rules, LaDainian Tomlinson would have a Heisman, for example.

Anyhoo, the moral of the story is, Viska's got no shot at actually winning it. Here's hoping he gets invited to NYC, though.

When Gino won the Heisman over Marshall Faulk it became a joke award to me. A lot of blame to Lee Corso for that one -- was so focused on the key player on the best team that he even left Faulk off his ballot after he lobbied for Gino all season.

I forgot Marshall Faulk. Put him down next to Tomlinson as a guy that would have got the Heisman if it really was ever about the best player.
